Because you’re not listening to him. It’s off-menu, just like how you can order off-menu things at Starbucks or a restaurant. They will surely try to upsell you, but you can still do it.
They lowered the price of the 3 in most configurations, including the cheapest one available on the website. If you aren’t wealthy, you are probably looking at the 3 and not the S/X.
A Model S Performance Ludicrous for $100k is almost something of a bargain, considering they were $20k more expensive last week.
Aren’t they going to be upset that she’s short by about $4k?
Yup, pretty simple. With people realizing that the 3 is 90% the car of the S, and the Y coming to cannibalize X sales, they need to push the S and X further upmarket.
the cheapest starting price on the website is still $38,990.
Looks like Model 3 Long Range AWD dropped ~$2,000 and Model 3 Performance dropped ~$5,000. That would be bigger news to me. If you’re actually shopping for a new vehicle (not just randomly commenting online), you can’t ignore the Model 3 at this point, and neither should BMW. The 3 series is now pushing like a $20k…
“Just be a niche car maker for wealthy people”
When I tried my best to explain that she would never see a $35k Tesla on the road (and why) she got very mad at me for shitting on her dreams.
...That wasn’t actually confusing at all. The people who would’ve purchased the base model S or X were likely finessed into financing the higher trim options, so there was no point in offering it anymore (unlike the base Model 3, which they’d foolishly made a whole bunch of “sub-$35k Tesla” noise about).
Justin, your attitude is showing: “We’ve reported on the Model 3's issues with panel gaps plenty of times in the past, so it’s only right to acknowledge when game recognizes game and a good example of Tesla craftsmanship makes it out of Fremont.” That is your assumption that the panel gaps are the norm, and the model…
So I’ll leave you with a snippet about panel gaps from his time at GM:
“If his little thing tied around that steering wheel fell off, and he was still sleeping, he would have slammed into somebody going 65 miles per hour,” Miladinovich said.

A bad decision is always better than no decision
Damn it, I wish more PHEV owners were like you. Here in LA all of the public chargers are clogged with PHEVs. And Disneyland is THE WORST! Unless I get into the parking structure within 30 minutes of it opening (so 6:30 AM), the chargers are filled with 75% of PHEVs. And I did the math and these owners are god damn…
Which is why EVs aren’t currently for everyone. In the same logic, some people in cities don’t have cars at all because parking is so challenging. In fact, I’d argue that if you live in a very dense location like that, you don’t need a car at all...walk/bike to mass transit and save the hassle. If you need a car, use…
You and every other happy EV owner has already pointed it out on every thread. Congrats for your lifestyle.
Sorry, but the most annoying thing about Electric Cars is that the hatebase lies right at the intersection of Audi-smug and Brodozer D-Baggy.
