The legal system is a racket on all levels. The fact that the officer can say you broke an almost completely subjective law, and the judge has the power to agree without the officer articulating the logic as to why he thought the driver was driving in an unsafe manner. The end result of the ticket not only is

I would imagine that the research to develop electric motors and battery packs sufficient to run a fire truck at the performance level modern society requires would also lead to much more powerful/efficient/long-lasting motors and batteries for other applications. Even if they are never able to put an electric fire

so a 97 Plymouth neon?

oh trust me, you don’t want to try to make the judge feel stupid. I tried and not only did I receive the full ticket, he threatened to hold me in contempt.

Apparently that’s not the case. As Steve says in his article on R&T:

I mean, if you were the sole judge in a case, even cases involving yourself, you’d be awful tempted to initiate conflict with others just so you could then judge the conflict in your own favor.

If you live in southern California, you don’t have to worry about passing a cop until you reach about 85-90 mph. I’ve been driving 80+ on thee freeway and get passed by cops more times than I can remember.

Imo, the minute you’re taking time out of your day... being pulled over, filing appeals, going to court... you lose, even if you “win” in the end.

“Nobody cares what you THINK. We don’t need opinions here.”

Well, in this case, they still kill the guy and would take his gun. So that’s a great comfort. And if he started shooting, maybe they kill his wife or kid and merely cripple him, so he gets to be a quadriplegic at their burial. Tell his family about the outcome they could have had.

I haven’t shot a pistol since I got out of military service (aka 362 days I’ll never get back), that’s almost eight years ago. I don’t have any fantasies about getting a drop on people pointing guns at me, let alone at my girlfriend. I know it’s an emasculating thought, but staying calm and handing the car over puts

That didn’t happen. You’re the one arguing hypotheticals like if he had a gun it would have saved him. The chances it would have are low, and if he had a gun and tried to use it maybe his family dies too. In the real world, sometimes the only options are bad ones because life isn’t fair.

The community they live in may be all they can afford, razor wire or not. There are not a lot of choices in this country when you’re living just above the poverty line, although maybe you’ll have the choice between a dozen worthless health insurance policies soon.

That feels like a shitty thing to say. This shit didn’t happen because he wasn’t aware enough, it happened because there’s assholes out there who don’t value lives of others one bit. None of the victims deserve one bit of blame over this. Only people I can think of who are aware enough all the time to prevent shit

I’ve had a gun stuck in my face on two separate occasions. In neither situation would my having been armed have helped anything.

I don’t get why you even brought it up in the first place. Having a CC doesn’t give nor is it a prerequisite to having situational awareness.

It’s pretty amazing how 90-something percent of us manage to get through our teen years without “making a mistake” by killing someone on purpose, isn’t it?

I won’t respond to him, but thank you for fighting the good fight.

Bullshit. In America, people drive bigger cars than they need out of desire than necessity. Given our cheaper gas and non-existent taxes for larger vehicles, there is really no disincentive to drive a large car than needed. This is why America has some considerably high energy usage figures per person compared to

A. It’s an ONGOING JOKE on this very site. I stand by my bet
