I paid about 27.5 for brand new - extra warranty - 2019 FWD Sportwagen. No way I needed 4 wheel drive...even in New England FWD is fine.

I said no Dice - too high.
Some people don’t believe in our Jury System. But for those who do - let me inform that getting an indictment, a trial and THEN a guilty verdict is not easy to do.
One of the main reasons Tesla sells is that it passed the Magic 300 mile range....marketed that way. People also think their Batteries will last forever or almost. Both are not the case. Isn’t it true that full battery replacement on these cars is $15K or more? Since 13 year is AVERAGE age of cars on the road now,…
Sort funny when “looks pretty good” means the thing looks 100% like every other SUV - either in total or in its class. Oh, how far the mighty have fallen! If one needs any proof of “writing so as not to upset our income stream” - it’s the basic acceptance of these “can’t see over the hood and poor MPG on many”…
The pent-up demand will probably throw sales figures off (on the high side)....I would expect they will go downhill after the “need attention” buyers are satisfied.
Folks seem to be guessing at 60-90K for the various models.
“on a net basis” - if one has to create formulas to show that BEV’s are 10-20 or 30% more efficient, this is ridiculous for many reasons. First, a good hybrid - if they had been mandated, US could have cut light vehicle gas use by 40% or more! Instead, we stay at the same record levels.
Well, being as MA. is probably the first state to pass Universal health care and it applies to all - rich and poor - perhaps your outlook needs a bit of adjustment. MA. has large populations from all over the world and from all walks of life.
If what you said was true, they wouldn’t be letting any or all residents…
We have this system already. It’s in our “credit reports” combined with other data. We have lifetime insurance files which, together with other data, clearly communicate our “social behavior” to others.
Your choice- slow and handles like a boat...or the 6, which drinks gas like a truck (we have one!) and still handles like a boat.
I’d say 2010 on or so. I did my research before buying my 2010 Passat and the reliability was going way up in the years before that. I loved the machine and sold in at the end of 2018 with 122K. Unfortunately VW isn’t making the German variety of it any longer so I had to go Toyota (the US Passat is dumbed down).
We owned 5 from 2005 to 2013 that all needed head gaskets - all different years. That’s quite a strong coincidence, don’t you think (Foresters, Imprezas in this case)? We’re not talking your garden-variety one in a million defects here. But don’t worry - they will give you a can of stop-leak to pour in the radiator to…
Must just be coincidence that all the Subarus our family bought from 2005 to 2013 needed new head gaskets EARLY in the game (30K to 60K miles). Amazing how well cover-ups seem to work. We are super-easy on cars too. (all the problems were with the 4 bangers, our 6 drinks gas like a truck, but the engine is working…
We have an 2008 LL Bean (6) model and would replace it in an instant with something similar (size, power, visibility, function). But the only think close is the VW Sportwagen. We don’t need the gigantic new outback or forester. The Crosstrek has a weak engine and cheaper feel.
I realize that and there are almost zero compact wagons to choose from....worthy of the name.
Actually, it’s Ford, GM and the like who have no idea about business....proven by their record.
We would have bought two Hondas except the passenger seats do not adjust upwards....a deal killer since my wife is short. Honda knows about this and could probably fix it for $20. But they don’t.
My 2010 Passat (German Made) looked and operated like new at 122K- just sold it. Only thing I was a little worried about was the Tranny - those things can act funny, but that may have been because I never changed the fluid. Even at the worst, it would be been 12-1500 for a new E-module for it.
Quick math - I buy it for 40G and use it for 9 years (108 months) - I sell it for 7K at that time, meaning 33K for 108 months or about $300 a month. My GEICO policy will be 120 a month in MA. - making for a total of $420 a month.
