Price has dropped on the ad to $4k OBO. Wonder what’s wrong with it.

How about this ‘06 330Ci? On eBay for just a little over budget.

For me it would have to be a W126 S-class, particularly a 300SE. It may only have a six cylinder engine, making it less desirable than the V8-powered 420 and 560SEL, but I actually prefer the shorter wheelbase of the SE over the longer SEL. The proportions are perfect, the gorgeous Bruno Sacco design is stately, grand

Jaguar XJR? There’s a 2014 on eBay that comes in just under budget.

What kind of monster eats toast straight from the toaster, without buttering it?

Wow. That RRC is a thing of beauty.

I daily drove a 190E 2.6 for three years and I adored it. It was not as dynamic to drive as an equivalent era BMW, but the build quality and solidity made me feel like a million dollars. It made for a very capable and relaxing highway cruiser, and the motor had plenty of torque for on-ramp surges. But it was

I’d suggest a a W126 S-class. If you pick up a clean example, no one will be able to tell whether you bought it new for $100k or last week for $10k. These things scream “old money;” many are still driven by their (wealthy) first owners who’ve never replaced them because they’re so good.

That car has been on sale for ages (it was even previously featured as a NPOCP, I think). Wonder what’s wrong with it.

I sold my mint condition 01' Sport 5-speed with 89k miles for $6k back in 2012.

I love those S4s and yes, you can pick them up for cheap. I’m just too risk averse. That timing chain issue is an $8k ticking time bomb. I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night knowing that could be in my future.

These cars made little sense to me when they first appeared, and even less sense now. It’s an overpriced Mercedes S-class uglified by styling that makes it look like a Hyundai.

I know he said American, but my recommendation would be a Mercedes 190E 2.3-16. The W201 platform is very usable on a daily basis and the 4-pot engine in the “Cosworth” version is peppy and fun to wring out, even if it’s not super powerful. Many of the cheap ones out there have been thrashed, but nice examples can be

Came here for E34; was not disappointed

That’s not a golf cart. It’s a SWB smart car!

Does it have to be new? If not, then ...

My choices are both Jags.
