Ok, pop quiz, An alien walks into a bar, his species is 50 million years old, their relgion predates our existence, existential problem or logically, we are not the center of universe, we are not the most important species, and religion is a made up comping mechanism to deal with the inability to cope with the fact

I think poverty in itself is a crime, one we dont do enough to relieve. I don't say religion was the only evil, just one of the major ones. It would be naive to think either will change how ever. It would just be nice if it did.

And nothing says that the creation of the universe was nothing more than a cosmic accident. For all we know we are nothing more than the figment in the mind of a scitso affect cosmic garden snail, which we are unable to perceive because we may be nothing more than the working of an infinitely larger system. Hell this

A few be nice to they neighbor clauses here and there, don' t really change the fact that is it used as an excuse to differentiate one human from another, to segregate, that in itself is wrong.

Post hoc ergo propter hoc is a problem/mistake they face, in the nature of their dogma, "after this, therefore because of this" , I would give other examples from a number of dogma's but keeping up with this thread is proving to be a little too time consuming.

Now I have to ask where is VT because it sounds awesome. And yes I agree, people need to live with out the concept of cultural identity, religion, race, creed, etc as excuses to be "Different" from their fellow man, and all have love and compassion and fellowship for their fellow humans.

Ok then lets go with religion is no longer a good thing for civilization shall we. And yes I can very much be entitled to said opinion, while pedophiles might disagree with me that raping kids is bad, I am going to go ahead and think that pedophilia as a practice is wrong. An opinion I am entitled to. Do you see how

PS You sir are awesome for the correct use of : verisimilitude.

Judging by the mob forming, not long :P

It will never happen, 10 different species of advanced cognitive life could rock up tomorrow with solid proof that they predate humans and people would still hang onto their delusions the fear of a permanent death is a scary concept. But its a nice thought.

Besides, you have to see the logical failing in the argument that one made up god is more valid than another god, both sides negate their own side. I agree we are a primitive and superstitious bunch of monkeys, but at some point, we have to realize that these superstitions have outlived their usefulness to a point of

Hehe, well put.

Life on other planets is the opening of a dam, once that extends to planets with sentient life who have their own made up religions, and we get into the my imaginary god is better than your imaginary god, they do by the very nature of their argument negate themselves.

Now playing

<= The opening statements to this are a well put version of how I feel. I do believe the right to belief is sacrosact I also believe that religion is evil. And how one can dismiss one imaginary god, they by nature of the argument dismiss their own.

Now playing

Didn't know we have to tolerate evil? was kind of under the impression that as a culture our goal moving forward was to prevent it, you know lock up murderers, get rid of pedophiles, I am pretty sure the theme is, if there is evil get rid of it, and if there is less evil on the whole, we all kinda of live better.

As people have the audacity to declare their imaginary god the one true god above all other peoples imaginary gods, that sort of audacity?

I don't think it would solve it, just marginally improve it.

Lewis was under the impression that god was in everything, in fact the Narnia Series he made a number of references to Christian Dogma.

Well points for those who made up that particular dogma for having more wriggle room I guess.
