If you want to be really safe, try the free deSkyRocket plugin for iMovie from Digital Thought along with a digital projector! (Note: The link for the plugin is currently broken. To fix it, delete "fx/" from the URL.)

I like the scanning idea a lot...having a copy doesn't do you much good if you can't find it! (Although some stores insist on seeing the original receipt as well, since scans/copies can be easily manipulated.)

Hmmm...you're an hour into the conference call as you type this? Maybe staying away from the internet (or anything else distracting) while you're supposed to be focusing on something else would be a good first step! Also, take notes on what's being said as you listen. They don't have to be overly comprehensive but

I'm terrible at following my own advice, but it helps to make a copy of the receipt and keep it along with the original...a lot of receipts fade over time and having the receipt doesn't do you much good a year later when your hard drive starts to fail a day before the warranty expires and the receipt's unreadable.

A bold but clean design that quickly conveys a sense of who you are, what you do, and how to reach you are the major keys to an effective business card. In other words, you want something that stands out from other cards while still doing what it's supposed to do.

Switching to a Mac worked for me! ;-)

Here are some photos to illustrate the technique:

Nice. If you're outdoors you can also use any metallic edge that's close enough to 90 degrees to catch the lip of the cap. Just place the lip of the cap just over the edge with the bottle angled slightly away from the edge and come down on the top of the cap with the heel of your hand. Works like a charm on any bottle

Sorry Gina, I have to cast a "nay" vote for the new layout as well. A definite step backwards.

"Air conditioning just isn't necessary, especially if you simply choose not to mind the heat???"

The biggest pet peeve for me is people who forward junk mail (inspirational stories, cute pet photos, hoaxes, etc.). As a general rule I tell people that if they wrote it I'll read it, otherwise don't send it to me.

The concept is great but in the one simple test I did Farecast reported a current low fare of $428 RT from Boston to San Diego while [Kayak.com] came up with a low fare of $365 RT. So it looks like a site worth bookmarking and coming back to when it's more mature, but it's definitely not reliable now, even for the two

Stay as far away as possible from Radio Userland! While it has a few advantages its bugs, limited support, and anemic development make it well past its prime.

A laser printer and cheap paper (recycled if it makes anyone feel better).

Much better than the plug-ins listed here are Photoshop Actions (essentially automated scrips for doing cool stuff with the built-in plug-ins and filters). Check out the following sites for tons of free actions:

I've used Costco's in-store processing and was very impressed. I've also used and been pleased with MotoPhoto's online system that allows you to pick up the prints at your local store...all the convenience of online ordering but you avoid the shipping costs and delay. I have an officemate who uses [mpix.com] for

Visually stunning, but as any serious LifeHacker reader knows the correct solution to a bunch of file icons all over your desktop is NOT to come up with a better way of stacking them and manipulating them!

Beautifully designed too, I might add.

Great idea but completely worthless at the moment given that they currently have less than a dozen recipes in there and are relying on users to fill the database.

Commenting seems to be broken (unless you can read this).
