Thanks for answering - I suppose the answer should have been obvious if I had thought about how the planets circling a star are analogous to galaxies circling these black holes.

Tangentially related questions I've been meaning to ask someone:

Awesome Swift allusion!

How it would really go down: Nazis arrive, watch a Republican presidential nominee debate, hightail it to the other side of the galaxy muttering about all the whackadoodles on Earth.

Well, we all know how Joss Whedon takes care of having too many characters....

Buffy is not iconic enough? Perhaps - although I'm sure the original audiences for some of today's quintessential iconic characters would have never guessed their longevity, so who knows?

Anya's death did come at the end of a character arc - as evidenced by her conversation with Andrew while gathering medical supplies just prior to the finale (and her decision to not flee another apocalypse), she finally understand what it meant to be human and to care for others.

But watch out for lightening!

Not saying I disagree with the sentiment of this video, but consider this:

If not for those mental gymnastics, there would be no Republican party. That means at least 30% of the U.S. population is conditioned for this kind of illogical thinking.

Agreed (not about Harry Potter, which I liked but did not love; the other part) - although I've not always been as quick as I might be to correct people who incorrectly infer that I've read something that I haven't. That probably counts as a sin of omission.

In this situation, though, those "likes" might be a tic brought on by nervousness. The kind of nervousness that accompanies talking to a stranger (even anonymously) about sexual experiences.

The lack of self-awareness is utterly stunning. Any normal person in her position would never be able to utter the word "vetted" for shame.

Google image search "lotr tattoo tengwar" - based on a glance, I would be surprised if what you describe is not there.

Tremble with existential doubt as T.J. Eckleburg's eyes glower over the audience...

Though books may become kindling, so I suppose its six of one and half dozen of the other.

To be fair, all your books could probably fit on one SD card (with plenty of room to spare). Text files are incredibly small.

I think that in a couple of generations, people are going to be absolutely shocked that we ever has so much cheap and reliable energy that exchanging physical objects for their digital shadows seemed like a good idea.

Digital and disposable are synonymous. Until we develop an endless source of free energy that doesn't hurt the environment, software and operating systems that never become obsolete, and hardware that never fails, anyone who tells you otherwise is delusional.
