The Major sport that’s hardest on your body, is far and away the worst for your brain (and long term risks), but pays far and away the least and guarantees nothing in contracts (and has a history of fucking over it’s retirees) is having a problem with players walking away from the game.

Maybe, according to Dan Dakich, we pay our football players too much. A cursory google search shows that Andrew Luck has made about $50,000,000 in his “brief” NFL career. Clearly more than enough to retire comfortably on.

If there was a young man in literally any other profession who made $100 million before he was 30 and decided to retire, he would be lauded. The Wall Street Journal would write thousands of words of wankery praising his acumen and smarts and god bless America.

Money was never the issue. Even before he joined the NFL or went to Stanford, he already had bags of gold in his gigantic castle in the sky.

I’m actually with the NCAA on this one.  If you have an agent that forwent college to pursue more lucrative work opportunities, I just can’t imagine how that qualifies you to mentor young men who are choosing to forgo college for more lucrative work opportunities.
