Aren’t all Jersey gas stations full service?

This was political theater at its absolute best. There is absolutely no way that Trump would have let Cruz anywhere near the stage if that wasn’t planned out. Cruz just unified the Republican party behind Trump - every single Republican is gasping “How could Cruz have said that?!?!”

Johnsonville Brats?!?!? You’re mighty close to losing your brat license.

Every single time these guys (and gals) strap on a plane, they’re hoping to come back, but it’s never guaranteed. Growing up in a military family (dad was a fighter pilot, F-4's in the 70's and 80's), and losing way too many of his squadron-mates in peacetime (6, I think), then working on bombers myself (losing 2 in

USAF obviously never learned the basic premise of project management:

TIL of at least one base where USAF and USN coexist... tail codes on the 15's in the picture indicate NAS JRB New Orleans... no USAF tail codes exist for NAS Lemoore, so I’m guessing that this is just a stock picture.

Specifically means “extended operations” - which just specifies which planes have been certified for long over water operations, with portions of the flight farther distances from possible divert airports.

So... pretty much any recovery, right? These are fighter jocks we’re talking about here!

Ouch. That’s gonna leave a mark on some of the F-35 apologists.

I don’t think anybody knows what the $564M means. According to this page, all of the bids came in between $10B and $11B, but the Air Force pudgeted $23.5B for the whole project (they’re budgeting for cost overruns?).

Agreed, but spreading the development cost around, the price was over 2B$ per airframe. It’ll be interesting to see what the unit price for F-35's ends up being when they’re done... but I bet the B-21 will top both of them. The newest whiz-bang stuff will end up being more and more expensive.

N-G was supposed to make 132 B-2's, and ended up making 21. The Air Force is planning on buying 80-100 B-21's. How many will that actually turn out to be?

Looks like roughly the Soviet equivalent to the DHC-3.

Now playing

There’s a video that shows the levels of coordination between the planes and a spotter in the stadium. There’s someone on the field giving the lead pilot a running tick over a radio connection on when to be where.

Additionally, some aircraft have the option to eject through the canopy.

Pedantic grammar Nazi checking in.... it would be “smarter than I.” You can check by adding the implied “am,” thusly:

I remember the launch of STS-107 very well. My wife had just told me that we were expecting our second child. Before we knew that, though, we’d planned to meet my parents at my grandparent’s house in Naples. We had driven in from Texas, and while in Naples, my parents surprised us with a trip to Disney. We went (even
