There are no mid engine affordable sports cars out there, so why not try to bring one back? I loved the gokart known as my X-1/9. A modern version would of course be bigger but if you keep the weight in the range of the current Fiat 500 and use the motor right out of the Abarth, priced a notch above that you might

It would be great to see another small rwd coup/sedan, and the Mk1 escort was the embodiment of that ideal. Make a 2 door, 4 door estate and cosworth version and you'll have a happy camper here.
