Huh, I routinely say “you guys” to a group of female friends. To me “guys” is not at all gendered anymore — “you guys” is basically the New York equivalent of “y’all.”

I wish this comment was at the top of the article -- I’ve never thought about influencers in this way, but it’s so true.
I agree. Gillibrand has been my senator and I’ve overall been very pleased with her work. I also think she’s middle-of-the-road enough on most issues to appeal to a vast swath of Democratic voters, while being progressive enough in certain areas to inspire others. I’ve been especially impressed with her extensive work…
As the books you have are academic and on specific topics, what about reaching out to a college library near you (maybe your community college) to see if they would like them. Or perhaps a local social justice nonprofit?
Nah, I’d prefer actual indictments instead of gross public shaming. Our criminal justice system should strive to be slightly better than Game of Thrones.
While there, she claimed that Democrats are to blame
themfor the two children who recently died while in Border Patrol custody.
Extremely same.
I think the problem with this is that people interpret the “that you can afford” to mean “the maximum that the bank approved us for!”
Your comment probably won’t make it out of the gray, but I wanted to comment to say that I appreciate you sharing this. A lot of (most of) PETA’s messaging is crap, and I imagine they pull these stunts just to get the backlash press. I don’t like them because of that, but they undeniably do a lot of good work in other…
I strongly disagree with a lot of what PETA does with their marketing, and I wouldn’t donate to them because of it. But I swear, every article about them trots out the euthanasia rates as a gotcha! strategy. From what I’ve read, PETA’s euthanasia rates are high because they often take in injured and sick animals that…
Agreed! Even a rehearsal dinner isn’t required, but people act like it is. When we got married we skipped a rehearsal (it was a simple ceremony so no need) and therefore also skipped the rehearsal dinner. We had multiple relatives ask us for the rehearsal dinner details like it was a given, which was honestly a little…
First of all, I’m sorry you’ve had to go through that. It sounds very similar to what happened to my (very Italian) grandmother late in life. She was eventually diagnosed with During Disease and put on a gluten-free diet, which completely fixed the issues she was having with blisters and rashes. Just wanted to…
Ha! Thanks for pointing out the typo; I’ve fixed it so it’s clear my lifespan isn’t the same as a cow’s...!
Ahhh this makes me love Daniel Radcliffe.
This is pretty normal, I think — if allowed to live out their natural lifespan, certain breeds of cows grow to be enormous. But most cows are killed when they’re quite young (even if they’re raised for beef and not veal) so they never get close to their normal adult size.
I’m still nursing a small grudge against my husband’s cousin (and said cousin’s wife) for not inviting me to their wedding. My husband and I were living together at the time (not yet engaged), and he was a groomsman in their wedding.
That’s correct - plastic can really only be down-cycled. It’s can be turned into insulation or put into sturdy fabric blends.
Her actual campaign slogan was “Stronger Together” so your friend’s shitty theory wasn’t even based in reality.
Yup, this has happened to me as well — I had to talk down a very angry man by explaining how spam calls can spoof numbers.
We tried to do this for our wedding flowers — we planned to bring all the arrangements to our local nursing home except for my own bouquet, which I was going to dry and keep as a decoration.
