From what I've read about her, the author of the books seems a little... high strung. I wonder if she'll revise her stance on fanfiction now that the series is about to become so much more popular and the fanfic will inevitably explode.

Unfortunately I don't think there will be much diversity in the series until they adapt the third book (hopefully they will keep going after this season). At that point in the series there are Chinese, Native American, and African characters who are introduced.
