If that cardigan was pink she'd be the real-life Dolores Umbridge.

I agree that calling anything besides high school graduation a "graduation" is silly, but kids notice if their parents are the only ones not there for a big school event. If a majority of parents are missing these events that are important to the kids, the school should look at how they're scheduling them.

Dysinterest: Pinterest's more morbid sister-site.

I'm thinking that the bake sale isn't the most important event here, but just used as an example. They also cite parents sending nannies for "graduations and public performances". That's a much bigger deal, and is really more about the kid's feelings than the school's.

Yes! I was also trying to imagine Jake Gyllenhaal floudering about in some creepy woods getting chased by the sound of wings.

I clicked thinking this was going to be about Tana French's novel In the Woods and am a little disappointed. Though I don't know how they'd handle the ending in a film.

I'm confused by the title. I thought there was a general consensus that the word "feminazi" is horrible. I spent years in college listening to idiots call the Women's Studies department feminazis, and I don't expect to see it in a headline here. Is Jezebel using it in some sort of totally funny ~ironic way I don't

JetBlue is my favorite airline to fly, especially since they fly out of the tiny local airport near me. I've been thinking of applying for their TrueBlue rewards credit card. Does anyone here have this? What are your thoughts?

Susan Steinberg needs to learn that a "mixed residential development" may, in fact, have a mix of different people living in it.

I know what you mean.

...until we dropped two very large bombs on them.

"the system of comfort women was necessary to provide respite for a group of high-strung, rough and tumble crowd of men braving their lives under a storm of bullets"

THIS. I worked as a nanny for several summers in college and usually made $9 an hour.

I have this problem with my older brother. He makes a lot of money in the corporate world, whereas I'm working in the non-profit sector and barely break even each month. Every time he gives me a gift, it's incredibly extravagant by my standards but no big deal to him. Even though I put a lot of time and thought

I should. But then I'd have to buy a TV, too, and rearrange all my living room furniture to point at it... What can I say? I'm cheap and lazy.

I would gladly pay $5 a month for CNN or MSNBC. But if we all only paid for the channels we actually watch, networks would have to start producing better TV to secure customers. And that seems highly unlikely.

In my last apartment, cable was included in the rent, so I had it by default. I moved to a new place in March and decided to stick with internet only, and so far the only thing I miss is news. Most of the time reading the news online is fine, or listening to NPR on my commute, but during those breaking-news moments

I was just going to comment about swing dancing! A friend invited me to come to the free swing dance classes in a nearby town, and it's such a great way to meet people. It's also such a great conversation starter when you meet someone new and they ask what you like to do for fun.

WHAT IS THIS COMMON SENSE. But seriously — I am rolling my eyes so hard at the people who are insisting she tried to frame Lumlumba. Either she's the biggest idiot ever or she was just really confused/scared/etc. Yes, it sucks that she implicated someone innocent, but she has payed for that mistake by serving jail

When I used to work at a bookstore, I used to give hardcore side-eye to parents who let their teenage boys buy these shitty books. And I never wished them a nice day.
