My best friend LOVES this show, and she finally got me to start watching it a month ago. We got to episode 3.

I came here to say that too.

Wondering the same for a friend.

if i admit i’ve never seen gilmore girls do i lose my jezebel dot com posting rights

He was 17. She was 13. I’m guessing he had a significant strength/size advantage over her. “Women are afraid that men will kill them” easily translates to “teenage girls are afraid teenage boys will kill them”. Don’t be obtuse.

I’ve been banned from my local bar’s trivia night :(

I have an inexplicable amount of affection for “If I Was a Rich Girl”.

nah.

There is no excuse for this, and uber really needs to get their shit together. They have a long way to go with their safety precautions. However, at least you can track the asshole with uber. Before uber was around, I lived alone and often took cabs instead of drunk driving. It got to the point where I would t go out

Uber makes me uneasy sometimes, but people who are turning their nose up at it and those who use the service really frustrate me.

You know what won’t change? My love for Tara’s illustrations. Off to read...

No, this is the stories that make the news about Uber. People take the cars everyday and have nothing but good things to say. I take Uber pretty much every weekend and have really nothing negative to say and I don’t know any person who has anything negative to say about them.

But there are so many stories of the same things happening with yellow cabs in NY as well. All of those stories are somehow magically forgotten when someone brings up Uber. The real issue is that it’s a “new” thing and people are wary of new things.

I’m in NY right now and while nobody’s been that violent at me, I’ve certainly had drivers make me feel very uncomfortable while captive in their cab.

Yeaaaah...all that licensing and regulating didn’t stop a cab driver from raping, murdering and dumping the body of woman in an abandoned construction site in SOMA.

But what I mean is, say a guy who operates a Yellow Cab in, I don’t know, Peoria rapes a passenger. She reports it to the local police, he loses his license, it gets handled however it’s handled. That doesn’t stop anyone from getting a Yellow Cab in, I don’t know, Nashville. But if a woman gets raped inside an Uber,

The company already has a relatively lengthy history of drivers attacking and threatening female passengers.

Cab drivers can be scary and rude, too. Since she was able to communicate by phone first, she saved herself being in a car with that man. I choose services like Uber because I can share/receive info easier with my friends and the driver so if anything did go wrong I have more avenues of communication than I do hopping

Oh nonononono. Mine used to shriek and I used to say, “I can’t wait for you to start talking.” Worst wish ever. Now I wish she would stop talking... For at least 45 seconds... While I’m trying to poop or sleep or eat or hear my mom on the phone...
