I don’t even like Uber or self-driving cars, but that take is fucking lunacy.

For real

A Morning Shift finally hit 5/5 wrong takes, congrats all around!

Wrong.

Don’t want to get hit?

I wonder what the average person would do if they found themselves in a car surrounded by angry protestors punching their windshield and threatening them. Get out and surrender to the crowd? Sit there and wait until they flip your car over? Try to move the car forward through the crowd slowly? Or slam the gas?

I’ve never seen a trail shattered diff period. But I have seen several hits to the front cross member and rad support from front suspension compression issues

The famous great sounding Chrysler V6

Ehh... Going to disagree on this one. I agree with your initial point. But I would much rather let my skid plate take the hits than my diff or axles. It doesn’t take a lot to bugger them up. And replacing them is a hell of a lot more money than replacing a chunk of metal.

Middle aged white guy here, and I thought the same thing.

What does race have to do with a car site? Please enlighten me

Based on my desires to keep the v8 alive, which are silly, let me make this argument.

Man is the post light on details.

Modern Jet-Skis/Waverunners have become little boats and they’re no longer fun to ride.  Standups, however, are a fucking blast.  Do I want to ride one a long distance?  No, that seems like punishment.  When it comes to have a great time on the water, however, there ain’t nothing better.

You must not look at motorsport prices often because you pretty much can’t buy anything decent and new for under $8-10K average. That’s not a lot. Anything above 600cc is going to cost you $10K+ easily. If you stick to 250cc and under you might squeeze out two toys for the price of one.

Isn’t Racings very definition danger for entertainment? Obviously I agree risks should be reduced but when people are pushing the limits of the track and their machine, there will always be failures or accidents.

I (used to, pre-Covid) drive a manual 12 miles in 45 minutes through stop and go traffic in Seattle. Never once have I wished I didn’t have a manual.

I drive a 6mt Daily in Portland, OR Traffic.  Stop and go.  It doesn’t tire me out and I rarely use the brakes.  Simply understanding the True Traffic Speed and adjusting.  My entire goal during my commute is to not use the brakes or come to a complete stop.  I’m generally 95% successful.  If you know how to drive MT,

Wuss. I’ve been driving manuals in L.A. traffic for 20 years. It’s fun and gives me something to do.

I never noticed much difference, in one you hold down the brake pedal to stop then lift it to go, while in the other you hold down a clutch pedal to stop and lift it to go.  Maybe if you drive a pickup with a heavy clutch, it’s bad, but every car I’ve owned had a clutch that wasn’t any more stiff than an accelerator
