Nonexistent. The second and third owners of these things have all been teenagers who found that this was the sportiest thing that their parents could be talked into getting them as a first car. Hence, they have all been thrashed, crashed, and treated like shit.

Agreed. Although, I’m not even sure it’s worth $3k, maybe $2k to $2.5k if you ask me. It’s priced like a good condition example, with 100,000 fewer miles.

“No lights on the dash, no mechanical issues” except for the emission codes you mention in the same paragraph.

Those things get easier over time. Stuff that used to make me nervous in the past is now no big deal. Having done a lot of wrenching over the past few years is one part of that and having better/more tools than when I was younger is another part.

I live in upstate NY. Plenty of locals also don’t know what they’re doing. Or forget every year. Who knows.

Pro tip #4: Don’t wait until November to buy your winter tires or you may be out of luck.

To avoid wearing them out real fast when it gets warm. Proper winter tires wear like crazy when it’s well above their intended temperature range.

I went like 10 years in CO with all-seasons with no issues. I decided to splurge on a set of steelies and some blizzaks.

Atlanta says hi.

I used to do the same, RX-8 with snow tires. It was fine confidence-wise, as the torque was so low so as to not encourage spinouts, but I had issues with ground clearance on heavy snow days. Also I’m sure your e-brake handle cover plastic snapped in the cold, as did mine and everyone else’s.

It says (recursive) tire rack right on it!

You know that one day every 3 or 4 years where you see a half a dozen snow flakes with a little bit of ice, and it takes people 15 hours to get home from work?  Meanwhile it makes national news and everyone laughs at you.  That’s winter, up north we have 4 months of it and we deal with it like a normal occurrence.

I googled “Tire Rack tire rack” lol. This puppy’s $154.

Yes it is worth it. I dont know anyone who has gone with winter tires and said it wasnt worth it.

Two racks from Tire Rack. They were $149/each when I bought them last spring after leaving the tires stacked between cardboard discs in the corner of the garage for years.

Literally just put them on last weekend.
Pro tip #1: Dark grey/black wheels to hide the slush.
Pro tip #2: Put them on before you need them or you’re gonna have an awful time in your driveway slipping/sliding about and rolling your ankles as you try to swap the wheels over.

Yup. Just waiting for snow in the forecast to start the Annual Big Swap.

You are more correct than I was. The 82 was pre-Tech4, so only 90 hp. I went to Wikipedia for the number yesterday and someone had swapped kW for hp in the spec.

The Iron Duke I-4 made 94hp, not 64hp, You flipped a number.

OK, you’ve motivated me to finally fix that O2 sensor on my Outback. You know, P0135, the one for the heating element in Bank 1 Sensor 1, upstream of the cat. The one that does nothing but throw a Check Engine light intermittently, and which costs $100 or so to replace. Fine, I’ll fix it. It’s only been like three
