Man, a Sunbeam Tiger reference.  Here’s a guy who gets it.  And your comparison is about spot-on.  What a hidden gem.

And that’s the kind of “quality” that permeates a car like this.”

Shouldn’t be too much unobtanium. They were mostly parts sourced from mass production cars. The bespoke parts were made in a shed anyway, so if you’ve got a shed, a jigsaw, and some upholstery staples, off you go.

Shilling is vehemently opposed to liking things. It’s his whole shtick.

MTOD is great. Roadkill, Roadkill Garage, Dirt Every day, Hot Rod Garage, Faster with Finnegan, and Engine Masters are all great content with none of the “IF WE DONT FINISH THIS CAR WE”RE GONNA LOSE THE SHOP” drama.

From a collectible future classic perspective, this MIGHT be a nice price.

Isn’t that what’s become of Jalopnik?

I think the issue is more that their stuff has strayed farther and farther from “car culture” (as evidenced by the fact there were no cars in their last feature) and further towards “watch these old guys do stupid things and make each other uncomfortable”.  Which can be entertaining, but it would be nice if the cars

MAKE JALOPNIK GREAT AGAIN.

I don’t care if it’s the same old thing. It’s the same old thing that keeps bringing me back for the 10 years I’ve been watching their various shows, reading their books and following their antics. I even paid for motor trend TV to rewatch the old TG shows.

You can get a donor NA or NB for nearly free in non-running condition. I’ve seen many in the ~$1,000 range or less. The key to keeping the budget down is a finding a good junkyard LS (a mix and match franken LS is probably the cheapest way to do it). But yes, it requires someone with solid fabrication skills.

I’m guessing you turn the knob one way to open one door, the other way to open the other.

I’ve seen a handful of carbed 302 Miatas come up for sale, and they can be found in the $12k range occasionally. But the LS swapped ones rarely go below $20k. I have heard that a knowledgeable person can fabricate a swap can together for $10k, but that doesn’t include the donor car. Alas, I am not that person....

TBH, other than the body parts/interior trim (which could probably be sourced via forums/online retailers), everything else is, as mentioned in the article, off of an existing, mass produced vehicle, so it probably isn’t terrible to find stuff for these. If I can walk into Pep Boys or Advance Auto and get parts for a

I’m guessing you turn the knob one way to open one door, the other way to open the other.

According to Rob above, it’s the interior door release... for both doors at once. Right there next to the shifter. Because TVR kit car-ness I guess.

“I can’t seem to make these panels fit up right. The gaps are enormous.”

On the front page, I saw the image and had to scroll for the headline/price. I saw a TVR, and my immediate thought was “as long as it’s under $20k”.
