True, but the one horror film Verbinski made was one of the best of the decade, and influenced a host of lesser imitators.

That's also a good technique for helping the audience identify with the character.

What makes me feel old is the fact that this festival no longer has any kind of coherent musical identity or mandate. It's a pop, rock, electronica, hip-hop free-fro-all.
I mean, yeah yeah yeah, all music is good music and listen to whatever you want and all that. If that's your bag, then fine.
But I sincerely miss the

Funnily enough, not me. (although I have plenty else to be ashamed of).
I was the kind of kid who listened to his parents' record collection, and developed my own tastes very late in my teens.
I still listen to my favourite artists from my teen years (Van Morrison, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan) but since then

I still think that collecting music physically has value. At least for me. I feel more connected to the music; like I've invested money, so now I must invest some effort really getting to know the music and appreciate it. It helps me not treat it as background music.

No worries! :-)

Neither is Moon Knight. My point was that those are low selling books that don't get scorned the way that Inhumans does.

Well Cavill showed real charisma and presence in the Man From UNCLE movie, so this is all right by me.
Wonder if he'll be playing the villain? That'd be cool.

Y'know, those of us who actually read Soule's Inhumans run (and there are dozens of us! Dozens!) actually did enjoy it. And not because it was FORCED DOWN OUR THROATS DAMN YOU MARVEL, but because it was entertaining, with great art, character-based drama and fun new characters. It's sad to see it end this way with a

I don't want to start an international incident, but to an outsider, it seems like American pizza sucks in general. From what I've seen, it has too much cheese and not enough toppings. I watch movies where characters go nuts over getting pizza, and it's just cheese and pepperoni. WTF?

Stardust is IMO his BEST movie.

It's the "even less" that through me off. As if Edwards was unqualified, but this guy is more so.

"Even less qualified in theory for special-effects duty than Gareth Edwards was"

Here's my controversial theory:
Lulu was a fucking great album. It didn't sound like 80s Metallica; it didn't sound like 90s Metallica; it didn't sound like Lou Reed; it was a whole new sound for the band.

Funny, I also thought it resembled one of the Cohen Bros' lesser shaggy-dog films, only with more violence and less forced quirkiness, and ultimately I thought this had more relatable characters and less cynicism (surprisingly). I actually found it quite moving by the end.

When you strip away the anti-rockism activisit aspect of poptimism, this is what you get: a kind of utilitarian approach to music, where if the music is popular, it must be good because people are enjoying it, and that's the most important thing.

I can't believe The OA received almost no coverage on this site. It was a genuine one-of-a-kind experience that I still want to discuss in-depth.

I think today's music fans and journalists are still obsessed with authenticity; it's just that the definition of what is 'authentic' has changed.
In the rock era, 'authentic' music meant it was a personal expression, and overtly seeking commercial success was seen as phony and 'dumbing down'.
Now, in the pop and
