The X-Files at it's worst was still better than most sci-fi shows, then or now. There's no need for nostalgia goggles; this show was stylish as hell.
Also, I far prefer those outdated titles sequences, which set the mood much better than today's 3 second title cards do.

When's Sense8 coming back though? I'm looking forward to being ignored by more people as I try to convince them to watch it.

Brian Eno posted something to the effect that Bowie may have finally been ready to revisit Outside in some capacity. if that's true, then the timing of this just infuriates me more.

"That art should be a means of liberating and losing yourself completely, of taking the messiness of the human condition and repurposing its tattered rags into a fabulous new outfit."

Internet: the original Bog Of Eternal Stench

You just know that out there right now, some dipshit is writing a bullshit 'hot take' about how David Bowie wasn't all that great or whatever.
When it arrives, can we all agree not to click on it?

Bowie is unquestionably one of those musicians that, if they didn't exist, then the history of not just music, but all popular culture would be different. There are only a few great artists like that. Bob Dylan, James Brown, Jack Kirby, Steven Spielberg, Agatha Christie, The Beatles… David Bowie is unquestionably one

Except the world is a little better now than it was a week ago because there's a new David Bowie album out.

Someone's been watching Kung Fury and/or Moonbeam City

I like Ambient AND New Age music!
Something I find weird is that, as far as I can tell, there's no critical overview or insight into the MASSIVE New Age music market, either in print or online. Some books on avant-garde, prog or electronica might touch on Brian Eno or Tangerine Dream, but I'm talking about Enya, Enigma

Yeah I forgot to mention that. But I meant the more overtly, extravagantly fantastical fantasy series, with dwarves and elves out the wazoo.
Regardless of its virtues, there's still a substantial portion of Game Of Thrones' audience that seems to like it in spite of its more fantastical elements, because it's more

Even if this is terrible, I hope it's a success, because that will get us closer to someone actually adapting an actually good epic fantasy series that's actually suited to the television format, like Dragonlance or Wheel Of Time.
All these shows need are writers that can balance the requisite world building with

Still no Sense8? That show had cinematography and art direction that was second to none, better than most movies. It's progressive politics and diversity was at the core of the show, not incidental to it. And it had a deeply humanistic message of empathy and compassion.
But most reviewers seem to have watched the first

I really hope that Syfy's new commitment to credible science fiction pays off, because they've certainly chosen some great properties to adapt and attracted some major talent. Whatever the quality of the shows, I hope enough people tune it to make it worth their while, and they can do more.

It really bugs me that people think the 'big juicy arcs' are 'the good stuff'.
Why should we care about the grand arc plot when we haven;t gotten to know the characters? And the best way to get to know the characters is NOT when they're caught up in a grand novelistic story; it's when you see them interacting and

So sad. STP are a perennially underrated band. They were the first to be accused of being Pearl jam knock-offs. Little could we know what would follow in their wake. But STP had the songs and the wit and the invention that the post-grunge hordes lacked.

I actually really disliked what Games of Thrones did with Margaery. In the book, we only see her through other characters' eyes, and it's never clear whether she's a genuinely nice person or a manipulative player. But the show makes it clear right off the bat that she's another scheming perv, and thus a lot less

It's got Wonder Woman. So I guess I'm seeing this.

But it does have Third Eye Blind, so there's that.

I'm not a Shakespeare buff by any means, though even I could tell this adaptation was severely abridged.
