Oasis is one band that would benefit from the kind of old school hits, album cuts, b-sides & rarities box sets they used to do. Now if you want rare cuts you need to fork over for one of those ridiculous anniversary album reissue boxes.

Ranking Noel Gallagher albums, because why not?
1) (What's The Story) Morning Glory? - not as consistent as its predecessor, but its 3 best songs tower over not just the other Oasis albums but most of 90s rock in general.
2) Definitely Maybe - rock & roll!!!!!!

.
3) The Masterplan - patchy, obviously, but a weak 94-96…
PRO: The sheer imagination, verve and fearlessness of any Adventure Time episode with a movie-sized budget and canvas to play with.
CON: The frenetic pace and randomness of any Adventure Time episode running for 90 minutes instead of 15.
Where can I find that PKD essay? And that Asimov anecdote?
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Star Trek means something. It's not just another franchise brand that can be remade and reworked and slapped on inferior products thoughtless. It's not about the spaceship fights and the made-up languages; it's about the message. 'Infinite diversity in infinite combinations'.…
Normally I'd consider this a pretty weak kind of fanservicey cop-out, but since Alien 3 went through such a torturous creative process involving dozens of different creative voices, and Alien Resurrection was the product of two conflicting voices, I'd consider this a legit move, as they're not over-riding someone…
The synths on Avalon are pretty subtle; I'd say that's what makes it a masterpiece.
With their image of wasted glamour and retro-stylings, I've always thought that late-period Roxy Music were more the forerunners of the New Romantic movement, which was like UK Synthpop's more rockist cousin.
Kinda defeats the purpose of the classic Primer structure though.
It wasn't really a reaction to anything except Bowie craving mainstream hits. (not that there's anything wrong with that)

I think they're just dividing it up chronologically.
Scrolled down to check that Dare! was #1. Good.
I thought Jupiter Ascending wasn't actually that needlessly complex. The plot was actually fairly straightforward: Jupiter is rescued, taken to someone who exposits, rescued again, repeat three times.
It seemed complicated becasue they kept expanding the amount of inromation it was necessary to know to 'get' the world…
It's a pity you didn't mention Jupiter Ascending. In a few decades, I'm positive it will be seen as a lost classic of science fantasy ala Krull
I'd say the way everybody was talking about the 'claymore' lightsaber in the Force Awakens trailer indicates that Abrams at least understand the importance of fantasy signifiers to the franchise.
I thought Marvel's Silk got off to quite a strong start. particularly for someone like me who doesn't read Spider-Man. Looks like a solid addition to Marvel & Dc's new wave of female-centric, crypto-indie titles.
Who said No Doubt isn't a real band? That makes no sense.
Madness are a band, who are influenced by ska.
Chicago are a band who use trumpets and keyboards.
???
I hate this idea that being sick of hearing a song a lot somehow makes it a bad song. That's the basis of 90% of Hatesongs.
But how little do you have to add before something qualifies as 'brand new'? There's a difference between incorporating samples into a new piece (like DJ Shadow does) and basing something almost entirely on a sample. e.g. Without the ABBA sample, Madonna's 'Hung Up' wouldn't be much of a song.
Two more things that bug me here:
Nope. Not buying it. Not in the slightest.
This is the sort of article only a music critic could write. And i don't mean that in a Birdman-style 'critics are evil' sense. I mean that there is this modern trend in pop criticism to praise the audience over the artist. In modern pop music, the degree of talent and effort…
