Heh, I had a rather strong reaction there. I've read way too many people making comments like that, and my ire definitely overflowed. To be fair, a few years ago I would've made a similar comment. It's tough to find a way to describe how infuriatingly willfully ignorant people like Trump are without using terms like

First, dementia is a degenerative condition. It's unlikely that he'd have it for 20 years and still be alive, let alone mostly coherent. Yes, he talks a lot of bullshit, but it's not word soup or aphasia. Second, there is no disorder listed in the DSM-5 that involves being a creeper who objectifies women. Third, as a

Literal skeletons, because he's the Zodiac killer.

I'd have the camera on all the other characters as they reacted to the death of the chosen one. Given how brutal the beating would be, not showing it while focusing on the horror the others felt would be the most tasteful way of letting us know who's dead. Then black screen.

Ragnar is pretty much fictional, but the kings in England and Frankia were real. That's the part that makes me weep. Granted, the show's still good, but my inner pedantic history nerd still has hissy fits over that.

Touche. <g>

No mortal woman is immune to Lagertha fangirling. No mortal man either.

Ragnar's been in despair since Floki murdered Athelstan, not just since he was injured. I do agree that it's not fun at all to watch.

It's off in terms of when it was known in England. I'm going by recorded references to it. That's all.

In a way TLK is already a spiritual successor to Vikings. I even saw a Tumblr post that had a picture of George Blagden as Athelstan and him as Alfred and there is a bit of resemblance.

I'd like to see the Varangian guard and the Rus', especially since that would involve Ahmad Ibn Fadlan.

True, it's off by only a century or two, which isn't too bad. Still she must have one helluva good supplier for her poppies.

I could do a thesis paper on how Hirst buggers the timeline.

I thought the wording was when the blind man sees, e.g. if Floki realizes how wrong he's been to hate on and kill Athelstan and that his attempts to "help" Ragnar are only hurting him.

If JRM plays Alfred I'm bailing. He's such a charisma suck. Also I'm spoiled by David Dawson's excellent Alfred on The Last Kingdom.

Opium use was common in Europe in the Middle Ages, but not during the 9th century. Of course we know what Hirst thinks of timelines.

Unless if they're planning to make Ragnar The Highlander…

They spent a lot of time establishing how idyllic the Glenn/Maggie relationship is in shower scene. Also, the bit when Glenn's leaving and he looks back in the rear view mirror is symbolic foreshadowing 101.

I get some of what you mean, but a part of it reminds me of the "I don't see color" argument. Yes, Tara and Denise are people, but their identities still matter. Think of it this way, a straight man can have Rick, Daryl*, Abraham, Eugene, Morgan**, Glenn, Gabriel and other secondary characters to potentially identify

How can it do that when newborns don't have teeth?
