It's a shame more cars don't have an easy way to inspect the timing belt so you can see just how threadbare it may or may not be. I'd say, as a rule, if you rely on your car for daily driving, don't have time to have it apart, and/or don't have a spare car for a day or two, don't bother changing your own timing belt.

The whole lost kid thing is a real fear. But what should you tell your kid to do if they become lost? Last week my wife and I took the kids to the state fair. On the way there we were telling our oldest (5) what to do if he became separated from us. She insisted that he go tell a police officer that he was lost

That looks like two helpful police officers escorting a senior citizen with Alzheimer's back to the nursing home he wandered away from.

I have no doubt it's an awesome car but I get the impression that your fascination with it skewed your assessments. This is what it looked like in my mind reading the evaluation:

What is the most overrated car of all time?

The wait has been way too long and there are too many other fantastic cars out there. There's no way that the NSX could any more than an "Also Ran" at this point.

Awesome. Just the laugh I needed today. Oh, and Oklahoma should be Opossum, not dog. Skunk being an unfortunate close second. Ugh.

I was there watching and we were all pretty amazed but we'll sure as hell take it.

Only slight surprise that Oklahoma State doesn't top any place in OK. Its bizzare to see all the people that went to regional schools cheer for OU and refer to them as "we", never mind the toothless people who can't even spell "college" that jump on the bandwagon.

This is all based on statistics so it has to be accurate, right??? That being said, the assessment of Oklahoma State is pretty spot-on. As an alum I can say recruiting has improved but our recruiting classes are always in the shadow of OU and Texas, yet we've taken 'decent' recruits and been able to consistently

That is truly awesome. I long ago promised myself that I'd never own a motorcycle. I know just how stupid I am and how quickly I'd kill myself on one. This monster would ensure my death in record time.

I'd think a lot of that is dependent upon the interior design and complexity. It seems that the more luxurious cars with lots of gizmos do break. Say what you will about the plastic interior of the 2005 Chevy Silverado but mine is 10 years old with 166,000 miles and the only issues with the interior are a stain in

Not if you come to my house. Between the kids and the cat and dog wanting to come check on you there is no privacy.

I came here to say this, but they need to offer a couple tiers:

Stop talking people out of buying new cars! Good used cars are already in higher demand than they have been historically. I always buy used so I need a steady stream of people buying new cars and selling them after 3 years so I can buy them and drive them for another 10(+).

Any tool that you're going to use with any regularity is worth paying extra to get quality. Buying a crappy tool and then buying a replacement when the first one breaks is usually more costly than just buying quality in the first place.

Seconded.

I HAD COFFEE WITH MCCAULEY HALF AN HOUR AGO!!!!

It doesn't necessarily always hurt their ears. Many children have tubes in their ears which as a fortunate side-effect prevent any pressure buildup and make for a very pleasant flight.
