A couple things:

There is no damage to the pro-choice movement here. Arkansas has an abortion ban. Women in states with similar abortion bans have been unable to get similar care. And frankly, it’s the case in lots more states than those where abortion is banned that you can’t get abortion care without insurance.

I’m not sure, but from the my read of the article, she basically got a D and C without controversy or pushback from the hospital because the fetus was already “dead” (no heartbeat). Theoretically, other women in AK would also be able to get a D and C on this fact pattern, but without Seewald’s unimpeachable Christian

It’s not illegal on the facts that we appear to know:

Of course it is, and I count myself in that camp.
That said, it’s really easy to think of a few key phrases to use as to not make a complimenter feel like their appreciation is a waste.

Can we also have an article for people to learn how to TAKE a compliment?

-“Going forward” as a replacement for “in the future” or “from now on”: Gee, are you worried we were going backwards?

Now, I know what you’re thinking

“we’re not for Medicaid expansion in Mississippi.”

impact/impactful

Wait, dude why are you talking on Fox News? no no no no no no

That one is actually referring to a different thing tho. It’s used to refer to a price that is most or least marketable to a consumer. Like “setting our games at under $50 is an appealing price point”

You certainly are trying to tell people what labor they can do and what they can do with their bodies!

And you are infantilizing these women and their ability to make choices on top of that!

You probably hate sex work too. Not sure why you aren’t calling that organ donation that should be illegal...

I assure you adoption can be plenty exploitative.

Anyway, thanks for proving my point: you wouldn’t sell your kidney, because that would be incredibly stupid and you’d only do it if you were financially compelled to do so.

Stop trying to dictate what people can do with their bodies.

We all struggle with the urge to respond to idiots :( I know I do.

I do sort of get where you’re coming from. I don’t agree that all surrogacy is exploitative. This particular case is likely on the up and up. But I do think there are more surrogacy situations than people think in which that’s just not the case.

Ape is an idiot. I responded as well. My mistake.

I am all for whatever efforts mega-corps are willing to make in the name of energy efficiency, but I’ve gotta say my mind immediately goes to “is this a ploy for Unilever to save money and say it’s in the name of conservation?” I trust these guys about as far as I can throw them.
