Not gonna lie, I kinda miss Blockbuster. Back in the day, a good Saturday night for Mrs. Overclock and me would be to drive to our favorite neighborhood pizza place, order one to go, and while that was in the oven, drop by Blockbuster Video. We stroll around, peruse the shelves, see what appealed to us, pick one or

Since I like Coolio, and I have some of his stuff on the player I take to the gym, and I have a habit of singing along under my breath while I’m on the cross trainer, I know this isn’t a hypothetical question. I struggle with it myself. Mostly I use “gangster” because it has the same number of syllables so it scans

I second having the SoundHound app on my phone; discovered a boatload of great stuff that way. Also, second movie and television show soundtracks, collections of songs that are frequently all over the map, but the curation makes most of them worth a listen, and some lead to great artists of which I was completely

The next major break came with the Brady campaign, and Clinton’s signature on that law more than a decade after Reagan’s would-be assassin pulled an Uzi from a briefcase at a speaking event.

I agree. The first episode was a big steaming pile of crap. But every other one has been great, and worthy of discussion. I’ll take it!

Remarkably, heterochronic parabiosis is a real thing. Or at least some real people with real money think so.

(And I predict a similar battle over who actually owns that data. And all the usual privacy concerns.)

Having worked on R&D projects to produce products that connect to ARINC 429 and ARINC 717 avionics busses, I can tell you that the same is true for data produced by business and commercial aircraft.

As long as we’re all here... am I the only person that is convinced that Rachel McAdams is a clone of Jeri Ryan? Perhaps the product of super science by an advanced alien race?

I’m happy as heck to see this posting. Doubly so the comments. I’ve been a fan of SoS since the very beginning, have a shelf-load of their CDs (most of them Japanese imports), and loved their latest CD, “almost persuaded”, that was crowd-funded. But until now, I was pretty sure, against all logic, that I was the only

*shakes head sadly*

My bus trip was in 1994. I guess things have changed!

(It occurs to me to mention it was actually the Swiss Alps at that point - the French would *never* have a Pizza Hut. But the Swiss were apparently more amenable to have a U. S. chain restaurant.)

I generally think Starbucks food is pretty marginal. But the Starbucks near our hotel in Yokohama Japan in 2007 had these curry pies that were so good we went back for more for breakfast during our trip. Makes you wonder why our domestic SBUX can’t have nice things.

Yep. I have a pile of unopened CDs that I think of as backups in the event that Amazon auto ripped music evaporates into the cloud.

I second this. I buy rolls of these at the office supply store, or from Amazon.com (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000F5K82A). I use them on cables and all sorts of other stuff. The little slot on the end allows you to “lasso” them around stuff so the Velcro tie stays with the part. (To prevent it from getting

You’re not wrong.

I’m surprised more public figures don’t do this. Long ago, science fiction author Harlan Ellison® trademarked and registered his name, mostly it’s said to prevent others from misrepresenting him. My own avatar name here on Kinja, Chip Overclock®, is a registered trademark, because I use it as a kind of brand for my

If loving this show is wrong, I don’t wanna... no wait. I’m pretty sure loving this show *is* wrong. It’s the most obscene, surreal, profane, violent, dirty, disturbing thing I’ve ever watched. YET I CANNOT LOOK AWAY.
