I literally do not understand this working as an unpaid intern thing — because PAID internships exist!

Longtime volunteer with a breed specific dog rescue, who has adopted two and fostered many golden retrievers from said rescue, and who does the “home visits” for prospective adopters: If you’ve expressed interest in a used golden retriever, you’re about 98% of the way to being approved to adopt one. Seriously. Folks…

I have no issues with families with room in their hearts/homes to provide them to kids with families/homes of their own.

Yes, how dare folks want to reform a completely dysfunctional adoption system that enables desperate folks who want to be parents to effectively purchase babies.

Perhaps it’s karmic payback. It’s horrible and selfish and over-entitled to brazenly announce that you’d like to acquire somebody else’s fetus and pay upwards of $30k for the privilege of doing so.

Because the adopters, the ones hoping to acquire a womb-fresh, ideally white baby, are horrible and selfish and awful and deserve to be taken for a ride?

The folks who desperately want to acquire somebody else’s kid? Ideally somebody else’s white, womb-fresh, newborn baby? Who write “Dear Birthmother” letters to pregnant ladies, despite knowing full well that (1) a pregnant lady is just that, a pregnant lady until (2) she gives birth AND relinquishes her child?
