I felt like Eddie Murphy was punching down a little bit too much in some of his SNL skits. His gentrification skit (which I admit was funny) implied that black people in gentrifying neighborhoods are out of place and thieves. Am I reading it wrong?

Martha is the aggressor here 100% - and yet I’m on her side 1,000%.
I needed it. Women need it, and black women need it. The suffering of women is really, truly seen as less important in our culture than that of others, and this is an issue that has still not been solved. History essentially repeated itself with the confirmation of Bro Kavanaugh. People need to be held accountable.
One thing is that, as others here have said, there are plenty of actresses who are good actors that could be a better fit for the role but don’t fit the rail-thin profile of a majority of successful actors.
For the most part, clothing donations are harmful to the so-called “third world.”
Thank you for this! This issue has plagued me, because clothes donation has a bunch of issues. Something else you can and should do are clothing swaps with friends. I’ve gotten high-quality clothing that I love through clothing swaps, and it feels good to know that my clothes are going somewhere where they’ll be used.
You should tweet about him - I’d be happy to retweet and amplify. Oh! I wonder if Derek Waters / “Drunk History” would be interested in doing a show about him. Something I’ve noticed about that show is that it works hard to elevate the voices of groups of people that history isn’t normally written about.
The tone in which she said those lines about darker hair got me. Like, she’s so sad and tired that she has to explain this to you kids again.
The Dark One’s advice is stupid. Read what RunsNakedWithScissors, below, says instead: educated information is always better than more information, and Aronowitz did the hard work to bring us some information. That deserves respect.
I want to speak up here because I believe in birth control, but I haven’t been able to find a birth control that works for me. Either my hormones are too sensitive, or it messes with my Zoloft intake, but either way it has turned me into a mess for months on end. I’ve even tried low-hormone ones. I tried the patch and…
This recent article details how, because of Republican budget cuts and obstruction of the IRS, the IRS doesn’t have enough money to go after big fish. Instead, there’s very little auditing, and most of it is focused on smaller businesses:
I like the Linda Belcher version: “Does this love me?”
A friend of mine in need of coworking space recently joined the Wing. I strongly dissuaded her against it, but she ended up joining anyway, I think in part because the elitist in her was charmed by its aura of exclusivity.
Agreed. I do think that it was a weird judgment call on NBC’s part.
To be fair, Donald Trump is president. I would never have predicted that he’s what so many Americans want.
Nicki Minaj is fucking shady, bitchy, and petty. I can’t respect someone who responds like this to someone on twitter: https://www.complex.com/music/2018/07/nicki-minaj-responds-to-criticism-in-dms
Bona fide Mexican here: I eat Chipotle almost every day for lunch.
I have some Crocs wedges and I get complimented on them all the time. People are shocked to hear that they’re Crocs. The company doesn’t do a good job of advertising their wide selection; they’ve actually had heels for years.
I wear high-waisted Athleta shorts. I honestly don’t feel the sweat, because they’re pretty good at wicking it away. I used to wear shorts similar to Undersummers (that I got from American Apparel), but they got really itchy after awhile. I’m not sure if Undersummers has a better fabric, but I REALLY recommend the…
Watching Hot Coffee taught me to question whether we are truly an overly litigious society, or whether large companies have successfully established that narrative in order to shield themselves from legitimate suits arising out of consumer complaints.
