Isn’t it amazing that the TSA has screwed up airport security so badly that there needs to be competing paid programs to make it less horrible?

Japan would like a word with you.  Still the only country with a professional women’s baseball league.

I watched it on TV when I was a kid, it’s a pretty famous movie.

Is that a picture of her, 25 years ago???

My point is valid because it’s the law in Japan whether you like or know it or not.  Maybe you should find out about the laws and norms of the countries you visit before you visit them, hmm?

Americans don’t really travel that much compared to other countries, and in Asia Americans are wayyyy down the visitor number list.

The laws in Japan are such that even a person in public view - even someone really really photogenic - has a right to privacy that supersedes your right to take their photo just because you think they “look exotic”.

This style is THE basic hanging rack style in Asia.  I mean I’d be hard pressed to find a different style at one of my local stores.  It’s effective.

FWIW this is not uncommon in Japanese baseball.  Sapporo’s Nippon Ham Fighters play a lot of their games in Tokyo (their old home) and Sendai’s Rakuten Eagles have played their early games in warmer climes before as well.

Lol people absolutely meet like that at big events in Japan.  Half of my friends are people I’ve met like that.

Oh no no, people are always rushing up the empty space on escalators in Japan. A lot of people run through train stations, too, and the average walking pace in stations is far higher than in the US.

I’m not a woman, but almost every one of my foreign woman friends in Japan prefers life in Japan to living overseas.  Certainly Japanese women (in my experience) tend to view Japan as a much safer country than say the US.  FWIW.

Nobody is disputing that Japan WAS and in many places still IS quite ethnically homogeneous, so please keep your strawmans out of this discussion.

An increase of 30% in 6 years is a LOT. Any way you spin it. I realize other countries are higher but this is a big change for Japan. Tokyo in total is pushing 4% foreign residents and several wards are over 10% - Shinjuku is about 12% as of last year.

Nepal and Vietnam are the biggest contributors recently.

Have you BEEN to Japan lately?  It’s not the US but in the last 5 years especially there are SO many immigrants.

Why’s that?  Lots of long term residents from all ethnic backgrounds, and even citizens.  Japan’s far more welcoming than some would have you believe.

I do this, but I like taking pictures of nice food is why, and I don’t particularly like hot food.  Don’t care about likes etc either.

Is paying your friends in cash just Not A Thing in the US anymore? That’s what I always did when I lived there.

Twice is very different indeed - wouldn’t say they are domestic oriented only as they are one of the few K-Pop girl groups to make a pretty big ripple in Japan, and they are ubiquitous all over SE Asia (as is Momoland). I think part of that is deliberately including members from other countries - was strange last
