These aren’t the same people killing themselves....?

My parents bought an ex-rental car when I was a kid. It was a great idea to save some money!

Not in the US, but I pay about $750 a year for full coverage on my sports car in the Tokyo area. Insurance is pretty cheap - though the mandatory portion of the car insurance is included in the annual car tax, which is about $330 for my car.

Insurance companies care about where the car is parked, not where your driver’s license and bills say you live. Be careful!

“Historically atrocious” - still better than the Cubbies.

I saw the trailer in the theater and thought it looked fine. I’d rather there be a great story and good action rather than fret about effects that to be honest are perfectly acceptable.

But again, why should a Japanese consumer buy it? What’s the appeal?

Well, it’s NOT backwards compatible yet, right? I mean it will eventually be, and maybe that will affect sales later, but I don’t think many are going to buy a console in June in the hopes they can play their old games in 6 months. Maybe. I’m certainly not (^0^)

Agreed. What has Xbox One done to differentiate itself in the Japanese marketplace? Why should a consumer choose that console over a PS4 or WiiU (especially now that WiiU is actually getting some compelling exclusives)? That happened with the 360 - Idolmaster was a console mover, lots of Shmups came out for the 360 -

Sounds great, I hope many do. The problem is there’s not a whole lot of incentive for publishers to do so if they want customers to buy new products instead of play their old ones.

The only country I can think of that has a stronger nationalistic approach with their wears (now not limited to consoles) is North Korea.

See, I think that’s a much more accurate way to look at things. It’s really tiring to keep reading “Oh, you just can’t sell foreign things in Japan!” from certain quarters.

Yes, they just announced it, almost a year after the console launched in Japan. A little late, wouldn’t you say? And not all games will be supported....

Well, what’s the reason a Japanese consumer would choose an Xbox One over the other consoles?

Yes, exactly. The 360 actually sold fairly decently because there were a lot of exclusives that Japanese gamers wanted. What does the Xbox One have?

VitaTV is pretty cool.

Nonsense. Name some games for the Xbox One that are the types of games Japanese consumers purchase.

Go to Ginza, look at the popular brands in the most popular stores. Almost universally foreign.

There’s (or there was) a Mexican-Chinese buffet in south Texas called Wok-A-Mole.

Yet another prime example of why game score is a flawed metric. Tell me how any rational observer would say this no hitter - almost a perfect game - was a worse game than the 1-hitter a few days ago. Hell, even if he had a perfecto it would have had the lower game score. Ludicrous.
