He and other activists are on a mission to shatter that stigma.

God bless you (cordially , not literally) for posting that. Hits the nail on the head. Some are worse than JWs.

At Gizmodo, the damn rich are the damn rich. Don’t get caught up in particulars. Just tax em all! “They didn’t build that...”

Arnold has a monument at Saratoga Battlefield (the Boot monument) as well as one at Valcour Island.

Have you actually been to New York City? Everyone in middle management in finance or law is making 500k+ in salary. It’s not even the 1% here.

I don’t think Arnold was ever associated with any place outside New England, and there are a fair number of streets named after loyalists up here. Oddly enough, one who gave his name to a street near me was named “Lee.”

I’ve become numb to the hypocrisy of this site. I’m someone who believes in the modern European Socialist system as the best of all evils, and even I feel bad for these “rich” folks (seriously, that’s just a upper-middle class neighborhood) who might now be forced to pay for parking on a private street ... in a HOA

The residents were pissed, and petitioned the Board of Supervisors to nullify the sale. One resident explained to The San Francisco Chronicle the shock that they, the city’s wealthy, could be so rudely taken advantage of

The issue the OP brings up is not to question if $500k is rich or not. He was questioning the misleading title. If the tax is on Billionaires, present it as such. But if it is on those making more than $500k, don’t call it a tax on Billionaires.

“All the rich have to do is stop stealing all the income ...”

Good luck trying to live comfortably in NY on $150k. $300k is the minimum for “comfortable” when housing for a family of 4, can run you upwards of $10,000 a month for a run of the mill apartment (mortgage plus maintenance fees that equal your mortgage payment). Then you get all the other expenses of living in the City

This type of journalism is like a maze where you are given misleading directions so you have to rely on your own intuition and reasoning to come to the correct conclusion.

Because this guy is a joke. His headlines are jokes and his stories are even worse. This is the first story of his I’ve read in a while, because he prefers good old fashioned communism. Fuck this guy.

I assume Ryan has a larger income than many others and, as such, would welcome an additional tax on his income in order to better NYC subways. He does, after all, approve of taking other people’s money.

“Ideally we should be looking at a consumption tax, but we all know government is way too incompetent to plan for fluctuating tax revenues,”

Because, it sounds less intrusive, In reality it’s bullshit. $112.00 a month tax for being successful.

As if Billionaires file W2 income anyway.

Typical dishonest journalism.

First-time homebuyer’s FHA loan, 0% down, refi out of the mortgage insurance when you’ve got 20% equity. If you have solid credit and stable jobs, it’s not exactly hard to buy a sub-$200,000 starter house somewhere.
