Klein was likely comparing the US to the period of its founding- where even aside from Slavery and the slaughter of Native American tribes- you had the Whiskey Rebellion and Shay’s Rebellion, both of which make even the most violent protest look insignificant, and some of the transitions of power we’ve seen around the

So now you’re moving the goalposts and it has to be a critically acclaimed film?

was apparently a Bernie Sanders supporter.

I mean, he was also acquitted because the prosecution and their witnesses destroyed their own credibility by unnecessarily trying to frame a guilty man. There is that.

That doesn’t prove that the sex wasn’t consensual. That doesn’t prove anything. I’m not being an apologist here, I think Cosby is guilty and should be convicted, but the fact that Constand is a lesbian, while probative of the fact at issue, is not proof one way or another whether the sex was consensual. Any half

Plus, apparently you only have to pay the 75 cents on the dollar!

Fact: The United States has been suggesting sending women to the moon for decades. Alice Kramden was the first American woman who was considered.

Right on, totally deserved when you consider how many huge pop hits she went on to write and perform before and after his death. In this culture we have a very small group of folks who get all the praise pretty much all the time, and a bunch of them have less talent than a dodo bird.

Pssst, your fascism is showing...
Taking away someone’s constitutional rights is absolutely a punishment. You’re suggesting that we should also violate their 5th Amendment right to due process because you deem them a danger. The only way to prove that someone is a danger to society is through a conviction in the court

I mean, that’s a reason you can’t find one funded by the government. If partisan groups wanted to, they could, you know, be forthcoming and intellectually honest in their methods.

Many of the people on the no-fly list are not suspected of any links to terrorism, in some cases they just have the wrong first and last name or went to the wrong mosque after moving to a new city.

Yeah, this is a major point of third-wave feminism. A broader focus on harmful gender stereotypes includes tearing down gender stereotypes about men like how they can’t be abused because they’re stronger or they can’t be raped, and terrible awful shit like that. While true most victims of rape and domestic violence

Surely you’re not implying that people accused but never convicted of a crime should lose their Constitutional rights as if they had been convicted?

How would that have prevented this? This guy’s charges were dismissed 10 years ago according to the article.

Sorry but no conviction = no loss of rights. I despise the violent assholes as much as anyone, but I will not support the trashing of due process. That sets a dangerous precedent for the govt to remove rights without a court saying you’re guilty first, which for very obvious reasons would be a very bad thing.

> So what would you do with regard to people who are charged but those charges end up being dismissed?

It’s so strange that progressives treat several of the amendments as suggestions, while treating others as sacred.

Please feel free to not come back.

That’s not accurate is it? I can’t think of a single Amendment that’s been altered unless you’re talking about judicial interpretation of how an Amendment should be applied. That varies over time, but I don’t think there’s even a mechanism in the Constitution to “amend” and Amendment unless you repeal it and then

There’s been exactly one amendment repealed in the history of the US. The 18th by the 21st and that took years. I’m 100% certain a suggestion to repeal the 2A would get stamped quicker than a cockroach let alone allow it for a vote in Congress.
