Mechanically the Edsel was just another Ford so had quality equal to all other cars of the era! Same suspension, same engines, transmissions, brakes and axles as any Ford or Mercury.  The styling plus bad market timing is all that was wrong with the Edsel.

I'd forgotten about this one!  My sister-in-law had one of those and thought she had a Lincoln.  Didn't like hearing that it was really a Taurus, plus it always had problems.

Poor market timing was the real problem.  It came out as a recession hit and people weren't buying as many mid-priced cars.  Plus the styling was "different".  Mechanically Edsel was just a Ford or Mercury (depending on the model) under the skin.

If people only knew how to drive (and wear their seat belts), there would have been far fewer deaths from tire failures.  When the tread separated people panicked, swerved, over corrected and rolled.  Largely their own fault!  Further, most people didn't check nor maintain the proper tire pressure causing tread

Here’s the funny/sad thing about these homebrew conversions:. Many guys doing this are fully convinced that they have reinvented the wheel and Detroit will be throwing money at them any day now!

OK, David, let’s call it a remote combustion vehicle. Most likely a heat source somewhere is heating water to provide the needed energy to recharge those “pollution-free” (wink-wink) vehicles.
