But he doesn’t want to play Sonic in Mario Games. He wants the rebooted Lara Croft to have at least some semblance of the original version of Lara Croft’s personality in the new games. He wants Lara Croft in a Lara Croft game.

The only 2010s animated series I seem to enjoy on an artistic level are The Amazing World of Gumball and Steven Universe. They just seem more thought out than something like Clarence. 80s and 90s style are the artistic sweet spot for me, and I don’t just say that out of nostalgia, though I’m sure it plays a minor part.
I want more stuff like this in the world of tech. Stuff with genuine personality.
I dig it, but I seriously want Kojima to try his hand at straight up filmmaking. The dude’s a cinephile and clearly has a strong interest in it. I’d love to see a Kojima movie with interactivity taken away.
You’d be surprised. Not knocking my nephews or anything, but they’ll watch pretty much anything.
Maybe it’s for people like me who will likely be watching it with my son and nephews? Gives me my nostalgia kick while walking the kids through the idea of the show (assuming that the movie doesn’t do an adequate job of that on its own).
The way I always saw it was a mix between Goonies/Stand by Me and ET/Jurassic Park, just with a young (though multi-generation spanning) audience in mind. The one in my head had a mixture of Jim Henson/Stan Winston style puppets married to top notch CGI to create the right mix of practical (so the actors have…
It’s like being a kid all over again. Specifically that time I asked my parents for a Mortal Kombat game for Christmas and they got me Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero.
I like AVGN well enough. I used to think it was absolutely hilarious but now it just gives me the occasional chuckle. I think James seems like an alright person but I’m glad to see him trying to branch back out into filmmaking beyond the AVGN character. I think at this point the character is holding him back in terms…
Normally I’d be snarky but truth be told what it would take to make a new Sonic game appealing is re-investment in good gameplay mechanics such as speed and fluidity of motion. For a character whose key defining trait is being really fast all recent sonic games feel sluggish. They would have to find a way to make what…
I wonder how much you can get paid to look like you’re losing a fight to Justin Bieber. I’m sure it’s soon to be a growth industry.
This is what I love to see happen in games.
Or even try using a multitude of games?
The thing that loses me is the way the voices are over modulated. We live in a world where Siri is a thing and they expect us to believe that the makers of a VR program THAT immersive would skimp on voice work?
I dig it. I normally don’t like gimmicks like this, but the cinematic was cool and the last game was fun (even if the character designs were butt) so I’m in.
Well, at least Batman and Flash’s costumes look marginally better. Seriously, I hope they got some new people doing better design work because most of the costumes in the first game were hot garbage.
The idea of a Mad Max style Double Dragon movie could be good. Granted, that was kind of the idea of the 94 movie but a full commitment to the idea of Double Dragon being post-apocalyptic-ish could work.
Yeah, not to mention a lot of the style of Jet Set Radio has (sadly) been phased out by today’s culture.
This just makes me want to replay the casino part of Stranglehold.
Good policy.
