She was paid $7 million for a part that didn’t even make it into the Thor final cut? Thats nuts

I feel like the “James Bond should be a woman!” folks have zero interest in actually watching a James Bond movie, regardless of the character’s gender.
Hey Hattie, Soon-Yi Previn is the adopted daughter of actress Mia Farrow and musician André Previn. “Zero Gravity” is not Allen’s memoir, but rather a collection of fictional stories. His memoir is his previous book entitled “Apropos of Nothing.” Even though you and your readers do not like Allen, as a journalist you…
For God’s sake A.V. Club, please do even the most minor fact checking. Soon-Yi is the adopted daughter of Mia Farrow and Andre Previn. She is/was NOT Woody Allen’s adopted daughter. Woody Allen was never related to Soon-Yi in any way, not even on paper, as he and Mia Farrow never married. Allen and Farrow adopted two…
So apparently Nathan was asked a question about Joss, and he answered it. Why is that confusing?
Isn’t portraying something you’re not the whole point of acting? If a straight person can pull off gay and vice versa then why not take the person who best read for the part?
I came here to say this. And I’ll add in “The State”. Both Daria and The State suffer from not having the contemporary music.
Kendi summarized on Twitter: “More than a third of White students lied about their race on college applications, and about half of these applicants lied about being Native American. More than three-fourths of these students who lied about their race were accepted.”
These jokes seem to be a play on pronouns, and at no point imply that trans people are less-than, or should be banned, or don’t exist, or whatever. It’s not explicitly offensive, it’s not even “noticing” something like a stereotype.
Yeah I know. You might hear jokes you don’t like!
THE HORROR
You almost never know who the opening act is for a comedy show and sometimes you don’t like that act.
Seconding this. And I will say, that even when he didn’t like something on which I disagreed, it was always interesting reading his review. (Best example was his pan of Wet Hot American Summer, which he wrote in the style of “Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah.”
Ebert as a TV “thumbs up/thumbs down” guy maybe wasn’t that great and I often disagreed with him (but not as much as with Siskel who comically hated nearly every genre movie but loved even the most pretentious art film). But Ebert’s written reviews (for which he rightfully won a Pulitzer) were excellent and still…
Yo, are you just ripping off Nathan Rabin’s My World of Flops? Even down to using referencing the Elizabethtown V.O. observation...
How can you write about comedy and think that Steve Martin would be opposed to a fart joke?
But you are a bad movie/TV reviewer if you can’t separate the artist from their politics.
100 percent agree. Fuck his politics but this is grade school.
This is so childish, stupid, and self-congratulatory, it’s insulting.
“The plant-based market’s biggest drivers, almond milk and soy milk, cost almost double at $4.29 a half-gallon (64-ounces) each, compared to $2.17 for regular dairy milk, according to a price check by FreshDirect. The price tag on oat milk is almost 2.5 times the cost of dairy milk, at $5.29 a half-gallon.”
