As it did with Wet Hot American Summer, Netflix took a perfect movie and added a much too long serialized prequel. Sometimes feature films really are the ideal format.

Wearing make-up to impersonate someone else is not blackface. Diluting the definition of blackface to condemn these harmless impersonations does not accomplish anything. Blackface is mockery of a race, which is why it is wrong. One comedian mocking another is not wrong.

I live in New York. But we’re talking about a Federal district court, and we both agree that judge wrongly declared a law to be a “poll tax” so he could strike it down. That’s wrong, even if you’re against the law. And it is generally liberal judges who do this.

Floridians (at least the non-felons) can elect better legislators if they don’t like their laws. What can they do about a federal judge, with a lifetime appointment, improperly striking down laws? Shit policies are constitutional and poll taxes are not. Federal courts should not be striking down state laws just because they are bad. 

A poll tax that.. you owe regardless of whether or not you vote, and you only have to pay once? It might be a bad policy, it might be an evil policy, but it’s not a poll tax.

Schools are under tremendous pressure to hire black professors. No, I don’t think a white woman has a good chance of being hired to teach African studies right now.
