For me, it’s just that I think my brain thinks we’re in an eternal year 2000? Like, the 00s and the 10s and this decade just feel like different shades of present.

“Oh hey, she woke up from a coma after twenty years, she must have gone under in the 80s or someth...”

It takes a lot for me to be interested in a TV show, but damn, I might actually have to check this one out.

Even as someone with a huge weakness for 90s nostalgia, Reality Bites has never done anything for me. Also, I am once again begging people to stop making TV shows of things that do not need to be TV shows.

I mean, Jolie and Hayek and Theron are all outstanding actresses - I don’t mean to imply otherwise. But none of them feel distinctive in their parts. There are exceptions, especially with the side characters: Jeff Goldblum, Kathryn Hahn, etc. But still, it’s odd. Maybe it’s more a writing issue, I dunno.

You know, the way the world’s outlook is going, I wonder how long it’ll take before a movie comes out that’s 100% unambiguously pro-suicide.

It’s not even necessarily “objecting” to - I’m not one of those people who fancasts for Marvel - it’s just that it all lacks a certain spark. Maybe it’s more of the writing’s fault, but like...let’s say the cast of Eternals switched roles with each other. Let’s say Salma Hayek played Angelina Jolie’s character and

I think that’s a bit of a reductive reading of it. Admittedly we’re not privy to the rest of the show, since it’s being released over the course of the week, but from what it sounds like, a man is absent and disengaged from his wife, and eventually ends up cheating on her, leading to their relationship deteriorating

You know, at one point Marvel’s greatest asset was its casting department - the ability to cast just the right person for every role, even those who weren’t huge stars to begin with. It’s a shame that it’s devolved into “just get literally every big name we can,” and it’s even more of a shame that there are fans who

I don’t know if it was explained well, but I understand where Foreman’s coming from. If we’re going to spend five hours (five fucking hours! Just make a movie for god’s sake) with these two, we need more insight into the dynamic than just “I dunno I guess she was just a mean jealous bitch.” It wouldn’t be a problem if

She was actually pretty great in The Tall Man.

Then why wouldn’t he post the picture of her with Zoe Saldana?

To be fair, we truly didn’t need to click to know it was U2.

You absolutely can. The trouble is that the success of one directly threatens the success of the other - EEAAO just stopped playing at my local theater in favor of the thirty Doctor Strange showings they have each day.

This looks like the best dad movie since Ford vs. Ferrari.

The frightening thing is that I really don’t see how this atmosphere of tension and hatred gets any better. Ask yourself: what would it take for us to have a period of national optimism again? What would that even look like?

Because it will get spun this way, Johnny Depp’s inevitable victory here will mean, in the grand scheme of things, nothing for men abused by women. It will be a victory for a man with expensive lawyers and millions of people who would take a bullet for a person they don’t know.

I can’t help but wonder if it was a coincidence that Gene ends up in Kim’s home state.

This whole enterprise is absolutely ghoulish. Maybe Heard is history’s greatest monster like all the headlines say, but with every obnoxious “Johnny Depp owning Amber Heard’s lawyers” video that goes viral, we’re giving powerful abusers a road map to destroying their victim’s reputations.

Isn’t this trial also a defamation case?
