The lack of consistency in this episode's rules was frustratingly obnoxious. The WORST was nobody realizing how genies work. They could have just passed Aladdin's lamp around and everybody would get three wishes, which could include Hook being sent back to Storybrooke, possibly Agrabah being freed, and Aladdin being

"You weren't making that point by just ignoring the counterpoint. Yeah, I know #alllivesmatter, or whatever. But most people don't really see that tack as a valid counterargument."

My point was that it might not be a gendered thing. Maybe the things that preoccupy teenagers actually are kinda' dumb. It's only because you kept on the narrative that teenage girls are uniquely disadvantaged that I had to point out that juvenile masculinity is considered pathological in-and-of itself. And apparently

What double-standard? That girls are made of sugar and spice and everything nice while boys are made of rats and snails and puppy dog's tails?

Nah. Teenage male identity is seen, in-and-of-itself, as a problem. Girls may like dumb things like Twilight, boys are seen as dumb themselves.

Or, alternately, most of what preoccupies teenagers IS inherently ridiculous and stupid.
