while I agree with the rest of your statement, I’d argue that the democrats in the US these days are more of a 5-6 on your scale. we don’t even have single payer healthcare, and no one is even willing to suggest it at this point, that puts us way to the right of center of all other first world countries.

I can't say I know the best way for the American government to keep people safe on our roads. We certainly do need ways to keep people from driving drunk, from driving without their seatbelts, from driving at night without headlights or running red lights.
