I don’t have a lot of friends in the military (thanks for your service, by the way!) but most of them have had the same answer about, well, anything related to GLBTQ or women in the service: “are they a good, capable soldier? Then I don’t care.”

Really? Cooties don’t bother you so much when you’re trying to get a difficult and dangerous job done? Well, I learned something today!

Yup! I’m in the military and trust me, Soldiers have enough issues we need to deal with, we don’t need more thrown on top of it.

In contrast, now imagine that you’re in a unit with a trans member. Somehow I’m guessing today’s announcement and trying to figure out what happens with regard to that person isn’t exactly making work more efficient.
