@tselby: Not if you have a big monitor.
@tselby: Not if you have a big monitor.
@battra92: I somewhat disagree. Like toy cameras in the right hands and even cross processing, it was cool and fun 7 years ago when done with extreme moderation, before everyone on the planet latched onto it as a gimmicky replacement for actual skill and creativity. Now of course it's been so done to death it sucks…
Bad advice for portraits actually.
@battra92: Ouch indeed! This reminds me of when I saw a rather nice Agfa projector with 2 trays of old slides at the local thrift shop. I went back for it the next day, and some hipster doofus had bought the trays (oh kool, look at all the retro old slides!) and left the projector. Not much use without the trays.
Even better: just disable compatibility checking in about:config, since they almost always still work even if they haven't been updated to say they'll work.
@muddi900: The point (and the whole entire reason HDR was originally invented) is that you can't get the photo to look like that otherwise, because the scene has too much dynamic range to get both the highlight and the shadow detail otherwise.
@KefkaticFanatic: "The one time I tried it in Ubuntu" - well there ya go. Last time I tried Wine I remember the Ubuntu package being somewhat crippled and having to get the latest source from winehq or use Fedora to get things to work right. The problem was mostly Ubuntu, which I have long ago fallen out of love…
Neat stuff but wow, is that ever an annoying web page! No list of all the apps to scan through, just tags and a random jumble when you click the "more" button. #flickr
@ceez: the workaround to the high ISO noise is to buy a better camera (sorry, but that's the true answer, it's inherent to the sensor). Or to use a tripod , long exposures and lower ISO, but that doesn't really work at concerts, or with a lot of auto-only compacts that don't do long exposures.
I used to use this, and it's good, but lately I've just been using Picasa.
hmm... with 8 characters, alphanumeric, with capitals (i.e. a minimally adequate password):
It looks like you're trying to write a letter...
@Madge Gristle: Can't say if it'll work with Windows 7, but I could do a clean install with my Win98 upgrade CD, I just had to insert a Win95 install disk at some point to prove I had one.
@TheBastion: Exactly. When things set of flags, they investigate.
@avmaldo: not if you're shooting 15 second exposures. "Get a tripod" really is the single best tip.
@TheFu: Nothing much you can do about the noise except try to clean it up with Neat Image or something. The camera isn't capable of more than it's capable of.
@Jim-Bob: Tools > Options > Tabs > uncheck "always show tab bar"
Pretty good... the only extension i had to disable is Better Flickr (HINT HINT!).
My solution: Only buy cameras that take AAs, use Eneloop batteries, and carry a spare set. If I forget the spares, only buy cameras that have an optical viewfinder, so I can turn off the LCD when the low battery warning appears (I find this is the single best way to maximize battery life). Digicam flash photos…
@paintbox: It was corny and played out on Flickr 4 years ago. I guess in internet time that makes it new again. And as has been pointed out, this lame-ass app doesn't even do it properly. It's more of a toy camera blurred borders effect.
