Frankly, that there's now even a need for something like "Ubuntu Tweak" to do stuff that should be in "advanced options" in the base install is turning me off Ubuntu and Linux in general. With XP at least I can run Photoshop.

@LukeTeaford: and Gimp does more things better for me (but it's still not Photoshop). Does [paint.net] even have layer masks or a healing brush yet? I haven't looked at it in a year or so.

Photoshop. Gimp is the best value if it does what you need, but Photoshop does much more, and most of the same things more easily. I run windows for the sake of Photoshop.

Even pictures resized with the WinXP image resize powertoy show up as 'probably edited'... if it can't tell resizing from editing (or curves/colour correction from virtual liposuction or adding Godzillas), it ain't much use.

As Robert Capa said, if your pictures aren't good enough you're not close enough. Forget about hiding and zooming and 50mm primes (which are actually telephotos on a half frame DSLR). If you want good street photos then get right up in their faces with a wide angle lens.

@wfpearson: Vista is alpha, too.
