God, I loved Queenan’s takedown of Love Story.  Like him, the only character that I was rooting for in the film was Ray Milland, as O’Neal’s character’s father.

HBO ran a version of the NBC Godfather mini series a couple of years ago, and I was surprised that it wasn’t reissued on DVD/BluRay.

My only gripe about Christine is that it was set in a bland California suburb, rather than greater Pittsburgh, in which the novel was set, and was almost a character in the book.

My favorite Barry Goldwater car story was told in Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee’s autobiography. Goldwater and his wife were at the Bradlee’s for dinner when Bradlee’s teenage son mentioned that the headlights on his Jeep wouldn’t work. Goldwater asked if he could look at the Jeep, and before you know it, he was

Carl’s Jr purchased Hardee’s, which purchased Burger Chef.  Every so often in my neck of the woods (Upper Ohio Valley/Pittsburgh Metro) Hardee’s brings back Burger Chef’s “Big Shef” burger, which was Burger Chef’s version of the Big Mac.

In the Upper Ohio Valley, our Big Boy drive in was Elby’s Big Boy.  Similar to Frisch’s except that our Big Boys used 1000 Island dressing, and Elby’s and the rest of the chain used the Bob’s Big Boy mascot, while Frisch’s was different.

I’m still waiting for the Coen’s adaptation of Ross Macdonald’s “Black Money” which was set in 1960's Los Angeles, and at one point, had George Cooney starring.

“I like Friends, but I liked it better when it was called Seinfeld.” David Spade, Spade In America, SNL. (Bonus points to the fact that Courtney Cox and Jennifer Aniston were sitting next to him when he said it.)

Baby!

I also liked Eartha’s Catwoman for the simple fact that unlike Newmar or Merriwether, she wanted to kill Batman, and not make googly eyes at him.

“And I’ll take the rest on a gift certificate, Pat.”

I enjoyed the show with Todd Glass in which Spade recalled when they first did stand up in Las Vegas, and his having a safe in his hotel room, and how that wound up costing him $500 bucks.

The backing band on Costello’s My Aim Is True was Clover, who counted among it’s members, Huey Lewis, and John McFee, who later became a member of the Doobie Brothers.  And for some odd reason, Lewis didn’t appear on the album.

It was amazing to see Seinfeld’s reaction to Murphy’s story about how Bill Cosby singled him out for using language he found distasteful, and tried to actively screw with his career.

Coors cans had that type of opening set up in the 1970's.  IIRC, it was the only beer can that I saw that used it.

Wild Cherry Life Savers, a candy so good that Frank Sinatra was buried with a couple of packs of them, along with Tootsie Roll minis, and Black Jack chewing gum.

HBO Films did a version of the McMartin trial with James Woods as the lawyer representing the McMartin’s, and Mercedes Reuhl as the prosecutor.  It wasn’t bad, but it’s been awhile since I’ve seen it.

But this information came from the Nixon Library, which technically isn’t part of the Federal Archives/Presidential Library system, due to the fact that Nixon and his estate wanted to keep total control of his papers on his terms. The Archives gets involved in terms of things relating to privacy and national security,

Car wonk that I am, I noticed the “Kennedy” bumpersticker on Abigail Folger’s Pontiac Firebird in the movie, as her actual Firebird had one. I also remember seeing a photo of her car with the sticker, along with Jay Sebring’s Porsche 911S, and Sharon Tate’s rented Chevrolet Camaro, taken in the driveway after the

Did Lambchop use a bun in the lovemaking? That’s known as “Doin’ It Artemis Style.”
