Ah, the “Uncle Leo” gambit.

And both Richard Pryor and George Carlin said that their favorite comedian was Bob Newhart.

No argument there. My favorite story about the Zaentz/Fogerty feud is that Zaentz's lawyers recommended to him that he pay Fogerty's legal bills, even thought the 9th Circuit Court said that he didn't have to in the Fogerty/Fantasy "self plagarism" case, as his law firm wanted to keep the case from being appealed to

From what I understand, the first thing Concord did when they acquired Fantasy was to start paying John Fogerty royalties on the material he'd signed away to Zaentz, and consulted him on Creedence reissues, which hadn't happened before.

Fogerty signed away his rights to his Creedence Clearwater material that was on Fantasy Records, ages ago. He wanted out of his contract, and those were the terms that Saul Zaentz set down. Fogerty's been steaming about that for decades, especially since the other members of CCR, including his brother sided with

I remember reading a piece that Dick Cavett wrote for his New York Times column about his fascination with Lugers, after seeing them in World War 2 movies. He wound up buying one when he lived in California in the early 60’s, but gave his to a friend who was a gun collector as he moved back to New York City, which had

I remember when Norm Macdonald was asked if he was surprised at the death of Chris Farley. While giving the reporter a death stare, Norm just sighed, and said, "No."

I would argue that from the time Carson announced his retirement until he left, he was doing the best shows he'd done in years, and they were appointment TV. As were Letterman's shows from the time the news broke that Leno got the Tonight Show until Dave left for CBS. Unlike Carson though, Dave's last year at CBS

No top flight comedian would consider the "Late Late Show" a steady gig. It's had three hosts since it began. Also, Tosh is firmly ensconced in the "$10 Million A Year" comedians club, and also has a pretty steady gig at Comedy Central.

From what I've read, Corden wasn't the first pick for the Late Late Show. Joel McHale, Amy Schumer, and Daniel Tosh were all offered the gig, and their "no's" were as fast as Poehler's was for The Daily Show offer.

I had a Mustang II Ghia in high school, but it was pale blue with a dark blue padded roof. Other than the fact it drank steering fluid like a sailor pounds beer, it was a fun car to drive.

I was under the impression that Cleese really got his clock cleaned in his divorce. I'm not sure if the same thing happened to Idle, but the other Pythons have whined from time to time about his solo tours, doing Python material. Then again, I'm pretty sure all of them cashed their royalty checks from "Spamalot",

I was reading a piece by Merrill Markoe on Vice Magazine's website over the weekend on how she believed that college was not the end all and be all of life, citing her academic career as an example.. I was shocked at the abject stupidity and total humorlessness of the average millenial in the comments. If you are

I have always believed that the creators of The Simpsons got the idea of "Worker & Parasite" from the Deitch era Tom & Jerry cartoons.

Fun with trivia. The MGM Tom & Jerry era "Mammy Two Shoes" character's voice has been redubbed by African American comedienne Thea Vidale. While the character still sounds "Southern", she no longer sounds like a stereotype.

It doesn’t matter who’s in charge, the Justice Department hates to lose, and will not do so gracefully. I’m just curious as to what condition the vehicles will be in when the owners get them back. Can the feds be billed in the vehicles need repairs from being stored inproperly?

I wish Faygo would make a Diet 60/40. Since Kroger got rid of their Diet Grapefruit Soda, I have to pay full freight for Fresca.

Mark Evanier made an interesting comment on his blog in a story about David Letterman, saying that he would like to see a Talk Show Network, as besides Letterman, you could run Cavett, Carson, Arsenio, Conan, etc. That's a cable channel I'd pay to see.

It's either a Norm Macdonald Weekend Update set for me, or GTFO. Frank Stallone figure sold separately.

I always liked the comment P.J. O'Rourke had about Manson, in an article he wrote about living through the 60's, "If Charlie had taken a little less acid, and had a little more talent, we'd be seeing him and his old lady, Squeaky Fromme on Good Morning, America, announcing their 50 date tour, opening for the Rolling
