Bitch, please.
I agree with you on most points, although I find that Greg's self loathing comes from an entirely different place than Rebecca's.
I dig that you specifically wrote 'Santino Fontana' and not 'Greg.'
I like your comment. It reminds me of something that Rachel Bloom has said in interviews that resonated with me; she wants this show to be 'true.'
Don't think about it too hard, too too hard.
What I liked most about that fake-Fry's job is that rebecca both created and resolved the crisis.
It started out ironic, but now the the playground is her everything.
Get out of here with your big words and incisive commentary. You're classing the place up. Alternatively, throw in a few simpsons quotes and you can stay.
I dig that the show teased greg (whoops, orig wrote 'josh') as an ostensible, natural match for Rebecca, only to completely subvert this expectation.
Thanks for the recommendations. I'll check out Booth and Casual. 'Criminally underrated' is like a challenge. Dwindling free time, let's you and me go watch some more golden age tv.
I see where you're coming from but imo you're making a lot of assumptions and, I'd argue, mischaracterizations of the characters.
Real Scarsdale HS is an Ivy feeder factory, and is located in one of the wealthiest communities in New York. While that doesn't make it Exeter Choate or Horace Mann (not enough molesty-ness), it's considered one of the best public high schools in the country, its tv stand-in notwithstanding. Stop peeking behind the curtain! But yeah, I agree that the timeline doesn't make sense and that this fact does not diminish enjoyment of the show.
I've watched this episode an embarrassing number of times (with cc on), and pickle is correct. During the 'convo' with Greg, Rebecca does indeed ask for a free beer because she is down to her 'last thousand.'
This show blows me away too, and I also have zero interest in musicals and outright hostility to stuff like Glee. CEG is such a great mix of being subtly subversive, bonkers/dork funny, while still being direct, truthful and raw. And while Rachel Bloom seems like a singular talent, I can't help but think that this…
I liked that moment too. I also dig the internal logic of that song- every time Rachel connects with someone they do a duet of West Covina. Paula in the first episode, Josh in the bus episode. Such an effective use of a musical number to underscore an important internal moment.
Same here. Weirdly subversive, sweet, and funny. I'm not worried about cancellation. I'm guessing that the CW will subsidize it as a 'prestige' show, the way AMC did wtih Madmen. But even if it does get cancelled, I'd picture Netflix, Hulu or Amazon picking it up. Those guys seem desperate for awards affirmation. I'd…
As a goy who may or may not have grown up in Scarsdale, I would add that it has the highest per capita income in Westchester county. More importantly, Beyonce and Jay-Z have a house there. Even more relevant to the show, Liza Minelli graduated from Scarsdale HS.
Big hug mug was part of the 5 hour voicemail Colin Ferrell's mustache was abortively sending to his son, ginger Pugsley.
