The bit with the Mortal Kombat game was also a fun nod to the Left Behind DLC, where Ellie finds a broken fighting game, and Riley guides her through an imaginary playthrough of it.

It took me a while to remember that in 2003, people ranting about the “New World Order” tended to be hardcore liberal 9/11 truthers rather than Qanon freaks.

This episode was perfection. I love both Nick Offerman and Murray Bartlett. God damn them for making me feel. I was almost weeping by the time Joel and Ellie showed back up.

While I was a bit taken aback the detour with this romance, I couldn’t believe how solidly it was written, directed and most certainly acted. The entire setting of a near complete small town fenced off from the catastrophe outside a was akin to the strawberries that brought them so much joy. But you could see in that

“Arby’s didn’t have free lunch; it was a restaurant.” First legit LOL line of the season.

that strawberry scene totally smacked me back of the head with some emotions.

Frank, in the final stages of cancer

Yes... The *horrific* imagery in this *horror* show was, in fact, quite *horrific*.

Bravo to Christine Hakim for making, in a brief role, Dr. Ratna a compelling, dignified character with an inner life. The way she even protested her being picked up by the cops told us something about her.

I liked how the scene in Jakarta was actually scripted in Indonesian. I could actually follow some of the dialog as I’ve studied the language a bit.

I honestly think I liked that more than the premiere. It showed that they can do more than just adapt the cutscenes and are able to take the actual gameplay loop and make it compelling to watch. The premiere was really good, but outside of the cold open (which please let every episode have some kind of pre-outbreak

Kinda figured Tess wasn’t in it for the long haul, considering I didn’t even know Anna Torv was in this until the pilot aired, but at least she went out like a badass.

I was going to buy Harry Potter until I read your comment...

He can do TWO voices, you ignorant slut!

I’m not buying Harry Potter, and I didn’t buy High on Life despite it being recommended by quite a few people.  Your move, bigot.

I’ll speak for the non-gamers out there; the announcement of this show was the first I’ve heard of The Last of Us and the casting of Pascal piqued my interest. I think he’s one of the most interesting guys working today. So I don’t really care if the source material is a game, book or graphic novel as long as it tells

The Last Of Us: Left Behind, will be incorporated into the first season. It provided a book-ended story that takes place before and after the events in the game.”

All I want is for there to be Dawn of the Wolf movie posters everywhere in the background.

Between the showrunner, writers, producers, and actors involved, not sure I’ve ever been more confident a series was going to be solid. So...that makes me very nervous, I just hope they get the tone and feel of the source material right. Looking forward to this, and hoping HBO doesn’t f it up.

But TLOU2 is clearly making a point and the idea that the game should be able to “give you a choice” seems to run counter to that point.
