Go to the light, Doug. Go to the light.

Low-budget sci-fi often doesn’t hold up well under that kind of scrutiny.

a new sci-fi film starring Claudia Black

I do miss the 3D icon designs sometimes. A lot of them were more fun than current flat ones. And I hate the white backround showing for many of the icons.

Respectfully, fuck you, that icon is visually interesting and has way more going on for it than just three colors in a circle around a blue dot. It’s a little glossy and 2008. I’ll give you that. But at least back then they believed in things. Or at least in making things look like a thing. And in 2008 the Chrome logo

Tangentially related: Max Rebo has pulled his music from Spotify, so something is up.

Seems like they missed out on a fun joke by not also casting Rebecca Romijin as Nurse Chapel, and just never drawing attention to it.

In this case, I think it is because Anson Mount and Ethan Peck as Pike and Spock, respectively, were really fantastic on Discovery. People wanted more, and they’re getting more.

I understood that. But I wouldn’t want to cost Wheaton a decent paying opportunity just because people were annoyed by the character he played when he was 15, y’know?

aw man they were just about to show close-ups of the rod!

Exactly! That’s what I don’t understand, nothing can “ruin your childhood” or what ever like hyperbole is being used. You don’t like something, don’t watch, move on and enjoy something else. I just don’t understand how people can expend so much energy being so negative.

Reading the letters pages about TNG in Star Trek comics and general SFF magazines and fanzines in the 1980s was a real trip at the time. “Why is there a bald British guy on the bridge? Where are three female characters, taking valuable screen time away from men who can get stuff done? Two black regular characters,

Nothing like Trek fans to be consistently negative. I can understand things not being for everyone and everyone enjoying different things but holy cow. I mean I remember back to DS9 being loathed by fandom for a good stretch and Enterprise being called garbage but not being hailed as a lost treasure in some corners. I

Without giving away too much, I would say that the overarching theme of the first season of Picard is the triumph of hope over past trauma. If that’s not hopeful, I don’t know what is.

Any Trek is good Trek in my book!
