You put an accelerometer in the helmets, preferably on a strap or some other point that is in close contact with the player's skull. The player takes a big hit and is slow getting up when he gets to the sidelines you get the data from the accelerometer. If the guy's head experienced anything above some threshold, he's

Punt Keselowski out of the chase. Let his mechanics stew on the fact that all their hard work for the entire year went to waste because their driver's actions. I wouldn't be surprised if Brad turned up in a ditch along some lonesome stretch of Carolina backroad with a wrench shaped hole in the back of his skull.

That

Forget the ribs and forget OK Joe's... lets all get down to Big T's for some burnt ends.

Could be worse. Last name could be Sheriffsbadge.

I wonder if Rousch will be able to get the new Mustang close to the Z/28.

Bodily fluids? Africa? I'll take "Oh-hell-no" for $200 Alex.

Is that a barf bucket for the defendant, you know, in case the verdict doesn't go their way?

Greenberg was talking about this earlier. Something along the lines of in the South African court system, reading the verdict(s) in a case like this can literally take days.

Now that he's been cleared of the most serious charges, he's got a little spring back in his step.

Have the rules of what constitutes a "racing incident" changed? I thought the rule of thumb used to be an overtaking car with the inside line needed to have a front wheel at least even with the driver of the outside car before he could lay claim to a corner. Considering Rosberg was never anywhere close to that

Oh I agree that Ward's actions were incredibly stupid, and Stewart had no idea the kid was going to run at him. I just think Tony put himself higher up on the track and closer than necessary to Ward. Hell even if he never saw Ward why did he pick a line so close to a stopped car? If he had taken a safer, lower line

Regardless of if he was at fault it is unthinkable that Tony was going to race today. Contrary to a what a lot of the rather hostile comments here say, he is not without fault in the death of another human being. I can't believe that in the brief time since the accident Tony gave any thought to getting in the car.

Thanks Stephen A. for chiming in.

Yes the kid fucked up. Seriously fucked up by trying to confront someone in a moving car on a race track. Some people are saying that Tony might not have ever seen that Ward was out of the car. I don't believe that was the case, but it is within the realm of possibilities.

Given Tony's amount of experience he should have expected the other driver might react. Knowing that, if he was leaving emotion completely out of the equation he would have taken a line as far away from Ward's car as he possibly could.

It's a shitty situation all around. I feel terrible for Ward's friends and family

Seeing the video I will agree the kid was incredibly stupid in his actions, but I also believe that Tony made a conscious decision to drive past Ward fast and close, with the sole intention of escalating the confrontation between the two. Because of their combined actions, Ward has likely lost his life.

From a legal

Nope. I don't think Smoke gets off that easy. It's pretty clear from that video that he intentionally took a line close to where Ward was and intentionally carried more speed past Ward and his car than he should have. He did both of those things to either scare Ward or piss Ward off. So he went out of his way to

*disgusting - damn piss poor spelling and crappy auto correct.

"I'm guessing it was an oval with banks in the turns, so as he tried to spray the dirt, the car could have slid downwards and moved to the rear wheel to where Ward was."

If anyone would know that it would be Tony.

Agreed. These same people would be jumping up and down, spilling their Budweiser cheering if it was Tony out on the track shaking his fist at someone who had bumped him.

No need, there is already plenty of stereotypical NASCAR trash lining up to smoke Smoke's pole, claiming that Ward should have known better than to walk onto a live track or how biased all the reports are by not pointing out that Ward was "sprinting" towards Stewart's car.
