That hospital was terrifying and I will say that’s one of the worst jobs I’ve ever had. There was always creepy shit happening.

When I was in university, my walk home took me through a not-so-great neighborhood, often after a late night studying at the library.
Crazy! Something similar happened once to me when I was about... eight-ish, I think. That’s 4th grade, right? Anyway, we were visiting my little brother’s godparents and I both loved and feared their house. We lived in a pretty non-descript, one story 3/2/2, so this two story, stone faced monolith with what seemed to…
I wonder if it was even your mom. I had a similar experience when I was in kindergarten and it’s never left my mind. My mom worked crazy shifts when I was little and we lived with my grandma, my dad and my sister. Sometimes my mom or grandma would get me up and ready for school depending on who was available.
Okay so, I’m not superstitious & have only experienced 2 creepy things that I’ve since attributed to sleep paralysis. But this is true & still makes me shudder, and if you do a little detective work on La Google, the facts can be verified as the aftermath was national news last year.
This is the story of the two times my father came face to face with a serial killer.
I came across these stories last year and I found them hard to get through, I guess I’m a wuss, but last January something really weird happened to me and I’ve wanted to share it ever since.
YAY. Okay here goes -
I worked at a local hospital many moons ago and quit after about 6 months because of the stuff that happened to me. Both instances I’m about to tell you all about happened the same weekend and I quit the following Monday.
There used to be a quarantine hospital/sanitarium down my street for people with typhoid, leprosy, smallpox, cholera, etc. Over 18,000 people were buried there between 1849 & 1877. There was also a paupers cemetery on the grounds. It became a TB hospital in the early 1900’s & people died in droves. The hospital was…
A few bits of background are necessary for my story, so please forgive the long preface. I promise there’s not a “and I said to the cabbie, yo homes, smell ya later” at the end.
I have a couple of stories, but the two most spooky come from my years in college when I was living in a haunted house and hanging out full-time with my bestie who was a serious sixth-sense-type person. Girl could see dead people, and it’s no joke. Her stories are crazy, and I’m going to try and get her to let me…
Try to Smile by Olympia Binewski (2011)
I went to a very old boarding school in Northern Pennsylvania that had a million and one ghost stories that I never believed, until I was 15 and actually experienced it.
It’s a widely accepted fact in my parents’ neighborhood that their house is haunted. Mostly because of the gruesome double murder of the original owners a few decades ago, and a few other deaths, but also because of all the weird noises older houses make. Even now, it’s really hard for my parents to get a house sitter…
I don’t really believe in ghosts (except ghost cats...you know the ones you feel jump on your bed in the night only to realize there’s no cat there? But I digress) I did have an experience that I can’t really explain any other way. My ex and I lived together in a wonderful art deco house built in 1923 and owned by the…
While this did not happen to me, it happened to a friend of mine.
When I was in college, I did an internship at the County, along with another guy who was in college. Our supervisor, Dusty, was a few years older than us, and he told us this story that happened to him and a group of his friends. I still remember the…
My grandmother lives in Illinois, just outside of St. Louis. Whenever she goes to visit the family homestead, she takes the longer route. It never occurred to me to ask why, even though it’s a 20-30 minute difference.
The reason for her avoidance of this one particular route is my mother. The year that she became…
