Fanart, fan music and even cosplay technically infringes on nintendo’s IP as well. But we dont see Nintendo cleaving the internet of all traces of that do we?

“mysteriously”

This is why I don’t buy Nintendo shit. I just sincerely dislike the company itself. When I think of shitty publishers and developers it’s usually EA>Ubisoft>Nintendo. Until people actually start boycotting their goods, they will continue shitty corporate practices.

PS: Pokemon Uranium was better than every Pokemon game

considering the people in question have an ounce of common sense, they know nintendo would never distribute its own product for free. its not a free alternative since nobody is going to say “oh heres pokemon uranium over here, so ill just play that and skip sun and moon!” im sorry but thats flat out retarded. also a

nothing was stolen. the fan project in question was from from scratch over the course of 9 years. yes it was BASED of already existing ip and mechanics, but from my understanding, it was all remade from scratch. it also does nothing to harm the original ip. there are plenty of worse things that have come of emulating

Except why didn’t they do it before this sudden surge? That’s what bothers people. If they were consistent in their purging mentality, then the argument of “properly exercising rights” would hold water.

All of that is probably true. What’s also true is that companies and the like have been sued in the past for “not acutally pirating, but didn’t do anything to stop it either”.

But they’re not distributing it. They’re just saying it’s good, which they are allowed to without getting anyone in hot water. After all, the creators of Pokémon Uranium well could have coded the game and sent the guys at TGA a copy of it without breaking a single law, because emailing a file to a single person does

The game was coded independently and expands on the original Metroid II considerably. It is in no way simple copy/paste.

*sigh* I wish I could say I expected better from Nintendo, but given their recent business practices, what is there to expect?

AM2R is fantastic. I’m glad it exists at all. To the guy who created it: 10 years of your life were not “...a waste...” (general quote to sum up some of the nasty stuff I’ve been seeing on various sites) and MANY of us enjoyed your remake.
