I think the next logical step, if they continue down this path, is to do away with all game mechanics related to race/species.

Another example of why I went cold turkey on comic collecting (at least with the big two publishers) after decades in the hobby. Every death, every game changing event, is completely meaningless these days.

Based on the architecture and banners of the city in the first scene, it looks like at least part of the movie is set in Neverwinter, so I guess that confirms a Forgotten Realms setting, which, given it’s the primary setting of 5e, comes as no surprise.

If this movie does nothing else but get WotC to re-designate Owlbears as beasts, I’ll consider it a success.
