And people wonder why many consider Star Citizen a scam or the scam of the decade. We’ll never see the game we were promised, maybe never actually see any game. We’ll just see more ships the next 4 years.

Saw the title and said “God... damn it.”

The company(s) will go bankrupt before this game ever sees the light of day. The studio’s keep bragging about how much money they have raised for this game, however, some of the backers have already been worrying about the amount of money they are wasting.

If the company survives past 2017 then they will need to start

Will Star Citizen ever be “out” as in a released, finished game that can be played like you would play any other game? It’s only seemed to have ballooned and slowed over the years. I’m not trying to hate on it; I genuinely feel bad for everyone who’s been waiting so long, and if and when it does release for real, I’m

As an early backer, I’m kind of worried. Have been a long time now. Well, at least I’m not one of those people who invested thousands of dollars for some fancy virtual spaceships. Still, I really want this game to get together, but whenever I read about its development, it all shouts “feature creep” and “overblown”

I’m honestly a bit surprised nobody has called them out on it.

Assuming the game releases, why would they give up selling concept ships for $500? They seem to be getting away with it.

I’m sorry, I thought this was a news site. Next thing you’ll be telling me they’ve released yet another $100 ship they only have concept art for.

Ill be honest, im expecting another mighty number 9.

I understood the scope just fine. It doesn’t change the fact that the single player portion is two years late at this point, and probably still a year or so away. The persistant universe stuff is just extra to me.

LOL! And yet the fanboys and suckers defend onward. This is gonna make the No Man’s Sky debacle look like a successful product launch when the whole Star Citizen hustle goes down in flames.

You saw a curated slice that was gussied up for show. All planned.

It’s been smoke and mirrors from the start because Roberts doesn’t know how to produce a cohesive product in the 21st century.

But!

I hope people don’t lose faith, because its endlessly entertaining to me.

How do we get refunds? Wish star citizen was brought up at presidential debate

It’s the problem I have with basically every “hard for hard’s sake” game. They all become spreadsheets sooner or later. One more point in this stat, one more nigh-impossible item drop. I like Darkest Dungeon’s atmosphere and art style, but I know for a fact I’m never going to finish it. Like Dark Souls or Rogue

To be fair, some classic roguelikes have phenomenal replay value for a certain type of person. I’m still playing ADOM after 15 years (and only two victories). Taken some long breaks, but I always come back to it for some reason.

Tried a few times to get into Nethack, but had trouble for some reason.

I loved this game when I started playing it, it was amazing. Unfortunately, just like you said, it became all about grinding and after a few hours of doing the same over and over and over, I just couldn’t take it anymore...

Totally. I personally love many aspects of the game: The random dungeons, the dark “Hellboy-esque” artwork and music, a spin on traditional RPG classes, and the “townbuilding”. The various diseases/quirks/stress is engaging enough to make every decision carry implications to manpower and gold, which I’m actually okay

Sigh. I’ve beaten all the souls games up to NG+7. They’re hard, and they’re sadistic, and they’re unfair entirely more often than you suggest. They’re fun, and rewarding, and if you manage to slog through all of the obtuse bullshit they ask of you eventually you learn to read the mechanics handily, but any game that

Couldn’t agree more. I really loved this game but the tedium towards the end was far too much; and I’m a huge jrpg fan (very used to grinding). The rinse/repeat of levelling new recruits, dealing with inevitable impairments, needing more gold, etc. It just got to be incredibly boring attempting to create a team of

Yeah, I agree. A great game that slowly reveals a total loss of player agency towards the end. It becomes a one way street into a slaughterhouse, with RNGesus the only chance of salvation.
